🎉 Happy 5 Years at FBCBT, Terry Shott

Five years ago, Mr. Terry joined FBCBT and joked that he was like Red from “Shawshank Redemption”… a little burned out and maybe even “institutionalized.” 😂 But I’d like to think he’s found his way back to what he loves most about this work after 20 years as a licensed psychotherapist!

Whether it’s the rave reviews from our interns (we are lucky to have him as our FBCBT Intern Coordinator), the ACT trainings he has provided, the bagels, the laughs, the enthusiastic good mornings, or his appreciation for just good people! Terry definitely makes FBCBT a better place. 🫶

Thanks for all you do, Mr. Terry! We’re lucky to have you! 💚

💚 Therapist Spotlight: Bayan 💚

This week we’re highlighting Bayan Salameh! Bayan works with clients ages 10 and up and enjoys helping teens and adults manage anxiety and depression using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).

A little about Bayan:

“I earned my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Texas A&M University–Texarkana and began my career working with individuals experiencing schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder and bipolar disorder.

When I’m not at work, you’ll usually find me with my two cats, they’re the loves of my life! I also love animals, traveling, and dream of one day owning a little petting farm (maybe even a therapy farm). Rome and Switzerland are at the top of my travel bucket list!”

We’re so thankful to have Bayan as part of the Freeman-Burchfield team! 💚

Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) is the gold-standard, evidence-based treatment for OCD and is also highly effective for phobias and other anxiety disorders.

At Freeman-Burchfield Institute for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (FBCBT), we have clinicians that are trained members of the International OCD Foundation (IOCDF) and provide compassionate, research-backed ERP treatment.

Very quickly, it became clear to me that Cami has a genuine heart for mental health. Her attention to detail, combined with the compassion she shows our clients and our team, has made a tremendous difference at FBCBT. I’m so thankful to Amanda, our former intern, for connecting us.

Cami, you are a wonderful human and teammate. Thank you for all you do! 💚

Mental health struggles deserve more than guesswork, they deserve care backed by research.

For anxiety and OCD, evidence-based treatments like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) help people build skills, face fears, and move toward lasting change.
