We are proud to recognize Houman Nourkeyhani, MD as our June 2026 Provider of the Month – Physician!

Dr. Nourkeyhani joined the Covenant HealthCare Medical Staff in November 2022 and is American Board of Internal Medicine certified in Hematology and Medical Oncology. As a key member of our Cancer Care team, he is known for his thorough approach, compassionate care, and commitment to shared decision-making with his patients.

As Trauma Awareness Month comes to a close, we are grateful for the opportunity to celebrate the strength, resilience, and healing journey of trauma survivors with our community. An excerpt from Brandon's nomination:
"Brandon comes to work every day knowing that his entire shift will likely be filled with the moments that many of us only experience occasionally. While floor nurses may encounter one or two emergencies a month, Brandon walks into them all day long—critical patients, resuscitations, COVID situations, and highly emotional moments for both families and staff. Brandon shows up every shift with a positive attitude, a calm presence, and a genuine smile. His knowledge and clinical judgment help guide us through some of the most stressful moments of patient care, and his presence alone often helps steady the entire team. Brandon embodies what it truly means to have a “Heart of Gold.”

An excerpt from Zachary’s nomination:
“Zach took care of my critically ill husband. Our first impression was that of compassion and understanding, especially when we explained that my husband struggled with claustrophobia. He didn't question it and said, "Don't worry, I'll take good care of you and get you what you need to be comfortable." Zach not only helped my husband with his recovery, but me as well. As a fellow nurse, we think we know what to expect in these moments and we brace ourselves for the tests, medications, changes, and the road ahead. However, as a wife, I was so scared and extremely guarded emotionally. Zach made Mike and I smile despite the mountain we were facing and made it much easier to navigate the journey.”

We are proud to recognize Meachelle Funk, NP as May 2026 Provider of the Month – Advanced Practice Provider (APP)!

Meachelle joined the Covenant HealthCare Advanced Practice Practitioner Staff in October 2014 and is American Nurses Credentialing Center certified. She is known for providing compassionate, patient-centered care and taking the time to ensure her patients feel informed, supported, and confident throughout their recovery journey.

Here is what her patients shared:

• “Meachelle is excellent in providing the critical instructions needed for optimal recovery. She listens, answers questions fully, and is very caring.”

🇺🇸 This Memorial Day, Covenant HealthCare proudly honors the courageous men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation.

Across our campuses, the flags and red poppies displayed represent veteran patients who received a final Code Honor tribute during the past year in recognition of their military service and sacrifice. These meaningful ceremonies serve as a final, honorable discharge following a patient’s passing.

We invite our community to visit these displays and join us in remembering and honoring the extraordinary service of our veterans.

Dr. George joined the Covenant HealthCare Medical Staff in February 2020 and is American Board of Emergency Medicine certified. As part of our Emergency Care team, she is known for providing compassionate care and helping patients and families feel supported during difficult moments.
