Urgent Care is changing the way we test for strep throat. In the past, we often started with a quick strep test. If that test was negative, we needed to do a second test because the quick test can miss some cases. Now, most patients will have one PCR test instead. This test is more accurate and is covered by insurance. Results may take a little longer than the quick test, but most patients will get their results within 30 to 60 minutes.
