Guided Wellness Counseling

Guided Wellness Counseling Guided Wellness provides counseling services to help you overcome depression, anxiety and trauma. Sometimes you’re not sure who you are or what you want.

One of the most difficult things about your struggle is that you feel all alone with it. It is hard to share it with others especially when they know you as the girl-who-can-do-it-all. That disconnect from others is painful but even worse is the disconnect you feel from yourself. I’m talking about the pain of how you imagine or remember yourself to be and then the reality of what’s happening right

now: the depression, the anxiety, the overwhelm, the stress… It can make you question everything you thought you knew about yourself. As a counselor, my first goal is for you to walk into my office and breathe a deep sigh of relief, certain that help is on it’s way and reassured that no, you are not crazy. Never will I make assumptions about you or your lifestyle. Never will I make light of your story. You matter and you will be empowered with a process and tools to take healing into your own hands

What you’ll get from me is plenty of curiosity and the enthusiasm that comes with knowing that this struggle is not forever. Your emotions don’t have to run all over you. We can take charge of this together. I believe that life is meant to be an adventure. For me, that means trail running half marathons, burning the occasional gluten-free pizza in the oven and becoming a licensed therapist. Some days it means digging into the latest book (if my kiddos allow time for that!) or a training that helps me bring even more skills, strategies and research into our sessions. But for you adventure might mean shaking off your anxiety to ask for what you really want in your relationship or stepping into a new phase of your life unafraid. Whatever your goal is, counseling can help you get there. Call for a free 15 minute consultation and we’ll clarify what your hopes are. Based on that, I can give you all the information you need to make a decision about whether or not counseling is the next step for you.

Just, too bad.

My trauma and panic attacks didn’t care that I had to go to work.

They didn’t care if it was 3 AM.

They didn’t care for logic or affirmations or gratitude. (Although, those are great in rational moments…)

Trauma happens and it’s got time on its side.

But therapy helped.

And that’s why, even as a therapist, I got my own butt on a couch and did the work. I ugly cried, saw my younger self and did the healing a I needed and deserved.

Not just once. But week after week after week.

And it was worth it.

Therapists: Do the awkward thing!

Especially if you are new to EMDR therapy.

Chances are, your basic training felt like you were drinking from a fire hose. There is so much to learn! And even more to remember.

One of the easiest things you can do is simply read off the page. Use your worksheets.

But looking unprofessional or looking like a novice, it’s a big fear for so many of us.

🗣️The easiest way to eat the frog is to simply state, “This worksheet says it so clearly and concisely. Is it OK if I read off the page?”

Why does this work?

Because your clients want you to be clear and concise! So let them have the win. 🏆

💭Go ahead and tag a therapist friend now! Someone who has embraced the weird and taken their clients to new levels.💗

Healing from trauma can feel like an impossible balancing act. Set a boundary? You’re too sensitive. Don’t set a boundary? You let people walk all over you.

To every woman who feels like she can’t get it right: You’re not alone.

Healing is messy, but it’s worth it.

💭Share this with a girlfriend who needs to hear this today. Let’s remind each other that progress isn’t perfect – it’s powerful.

Self-care = less resentment.

Because the only person responsible for taking care of you is YOU babe!

When you use other people as your reason (or your excuse) for not taking care of yourself, you set yourself up for resentment.

And then not only have you avoided your self-care, but you’ve created distance and killed the intimacy between you and your loved ones. Plus, you’re showing up as not – your – best – self.

So do what you have to do to get it done.

Bribe yourself. Suck it up. Prioritize it. Get it done at all costs. Let your kids watch an extra episode. Let dinner be late or let them have toast.

You deserve it and they do too.

Sometimes you’ve gotta let it go. ➡️ And therapy is the perfect place.

No need to censor. No need to mask.

Don’t tone it down. Don’t try to be nice. Don’t “be appropriate.”

That’s not what it’s about my friend. ❤️

Ugly self-care isn’t glamorous, but it’s real. And it’s worth it.

Self-care isn’t always bubbles baths and candles. Sometimes it’s sweating through a walk in blistering heat, showing up for that mammogram, or crying your heart out therapy.

It’s messy, it’s raw, and it’s absolutely necessary.

💭What’s your version of ugly self-care? Drop it in the comments and let’s normalize that not so pretty side of taking care of ourselves. 💗💪
