Many people assume a wound needs a bandage and time to heal. While that may be true for a simple cut or scrape, chronic and complex wounds require a different level of care.

Standard wound care often focuses on cleaning the wound and changing dressings. Even though these are important steps, they are not usually enough to heal wounds that are stalled or complicated by preexisting conditions like diabetes or infection.
