[THE STRETCHER ] worth a read

Two paramedics were wheeling a stretcher toward the oncology clinic. An elderly man lay beneath a thin blanket; his eyes closed against the late-morning sun. The outline was frail, narrow, familiar only in the way all hospital bodies become familiar after enough years in medicine.

Tomorrow I graduate from the Johns Hopkins Whiting School of Engineering Agentic AI program with a 4.33 GPA and “exceptional achievement.” 🎓✨

I started this program in the middle of…everything.

Between hospitalization, IQVIA, building in AI, Medical Ai Academy, The AI-Ready Doctor, Tele-ICU Inc and life turning upside down, it often felt impossible. But my father was tracking every module, every project, every late‑night message about what I was learning. I took my last exam and coded my final project while he was in his last hospitalization.

- Kudos to you“هنيئاً لك” is what he told me days before he left looking at my GPA.
Mixed feelings does not begin to describe what it means to reach this milestone without him physically here. Grief is strange, but I learned (thank you Oprah Winfrey for sharing about you and your mom) that what eases it is when nothing is left unsaid. And I can safely say: I showed him who I am. He was proud of me. He was encouraging me. He was impressed with me.

He would often say, “the disciple surpassed the master.” I never believed that. I am still learning from him, how to make everyone feel seen, how to die with grace, how to be present to every moment, how to accept that where you are is exactly where you’re meant to be, how to forgive, for yourself, not for others.

Dad, I did it. I dedicate this certificate, this 4.33, and every agent I build next to you. هنيئاً لك يا أبي… and, I hope, هنيئاً بي. 🤍

I graduate tomorrow at 6am pacific. Pride and heart break. Two contradictions held together in my heart at the same time.

لقد أتم ختم القرآن الكريم كهدية وبركة لوالدي رحمه الله.

أسأل الله أن يكون القرآن أنيسًا له وهو بانتظار الدفن يوم الخميس إن شاء الله في فاس، المغرب.

تمت إعادة فتح الـ240 خانة من جديد.

أرجو منكم مساعدتي في أن يبقى مُرافقًا بدفء تلاوة القرآن والدعاء حتى يُوارى في قبره بإذن الله العلي

As many of you know, our beloved father, Haj Mohammed Karimi Bencheqroun رحمه الله, is awaiting his return to Morocco for burial.

In the meantime, we created “QuranForBaba,” a collective Qur’an recitation where family, friends, students, and loved ones can each choose a ¼ Hizb to read in his memory between May 14 and May 28.

The website allows everyone to select and mark their portion so we can complete a continuous collective khatma together, wherever we are in the world.

May Allah accept from all of you and grant him الرحمة والمغفرة and the highest level of Jannah.

كما يعلم الكثير منكم، فإن والدنا الحبيب الحاج محمد كريمي بنشقرون رحمه الله ينتظر نقله إلى المغرب لدفنه.

وفي هذه الفترة، أنشأنا “القرآن لبابا الحبيب”، وهي ختمة جماعية للقرآن الكريم، حيث يمكن لكل شخص اختيار ربع حزب / ربع جزء وقراءته بنية الأجر والثواب لروحه الطاهرة، وذلك من 14 مايو إلى 28 مايو.

الموقع يسمح لكل مشارك باختيار الجزء الخاص به وتأكيد إتمامه، حتى نُكمل ختمة جماعية متواصلة من مختلف أنحاء العالم.

نسأل الله أن يتقبل من الجميع، وأن يرحمه رحمة واسعة، ويغفر له، ويسكنه فسيح جناته.
