In line with our theme for the month of June being Isolations, it also seems fitting to have our Wellness Wednesday be highlighting the Gonstead system.

This technique could not be more individualized…the comprehensive six part examination with History, Visualization, Palpation, Motion Palpation, Instrumentation and an X-ray all point to the root cause of dysfunction in the body. There will be a specific adjustment required to restore function to the Nervous System. This specific misalignment is called a subluxation. There are not two subluxations alike. Correction is just as specific as finding the problem! What segment, how much rotation? Is the disc wedging on one side? Which table will allow the most comfortable and biomechanically sound for correction?

Your low back or neck pain is the same as someone else’s…your unique issues need specific corrections! We have to isolate the problem and fix ONLY that problem!

Hip Isolations - Pelvic Tilts
✨ Tilt & Tuck
✨ Corners
✨ Circles
There is a lot of small movement between the sacrum and the ilium—the connection between the hips and the small of the back.
By isolating hip movements, we can engage the smaller stabilizing muscles of the core while helping keep these joints pliable and their movements smooth.
Here’s an easy primer for hip mobility:
• Start by bending your knees slightly.
• Practice tucking and tilting your pelvis. Discover how you move and where “center” is for your body.
• Then progress to pointing your hips toward each of the four corners.
• Finally, smooth those movements out into circles.
• For an extra challenge, reverse the direction of your circle.
When the hips, pelvis, and lower back stop moving independently and begin moving as one rigid unit, it can contribute to stiffness, lower back pain, sciatica-like symptoms, pain down the legs, and a weak or underactive core.
These simple isolation exercises help restore awareness, mobility, and control—building a stronger foundation for healthy movement.

How does Dr. Justine find THE problem in your spine? She is an expert at isolating the vertebrae that are subluxated using a handful of tools. One of the most noteworthy tools is a full spine X-ray. Nothing can be as clear and specific as an X-ray! If you are looking to fix a specific problem, you need to be able to not only find the problem but then safely and accurately solve the problem with as much efficiency as possible. If one vertebrae has misaligned and is causing pressure to the nervous system, you don’t want to guess which one needs correction…we want to adjust ONLY the one vertebrae that is stuck. Not move the vertebrae that are already moving. By obtaining an X-ray, we are ensuring that it is safe to adjust this segment in the body and that there are no complicating factors that could compromise the body’s ability to use this correction.

Did you know, sometimes we are born with anatomical differences in our bodies called congenital anomalies? This could mean you have a missing vertebrae! Or an extra set of ribs! Maybe you had two bones fuse together from arthritis? If you don’t look, you don’t know!

For the month of June, we are focusing on isolations.

Our first Movement Monday is on hip circles! This easy, no equipment, no excuses mobility can be done to break up long boughts of sitting or to add in to your warm up!

⭕️Follow your breath and let your hips start to move in clockwise motion for 3-5 rounds.
⭕️Try to make it a smooth and symmetrical circle.
⭕️ Hands can be in your hips or by your side relaxed.
⭕️Switch it out! Try the counterclockwise circle…it’s normal for this to feel more natural in one direct and a little awkward on the other.
⭕️Try to have fun with it!

🌿 Wellness Wednesday: Your Gut is a Garden 🌿

This May, we’re talking about bacteria blooms—but not the kind you need to fear.

Your gut is a living ecosystem, just like a garden in full bloom. When it’s in balance, beneficial bacteria help you:
✨ Digest food more efficiently
✨ Support immunity
✨ Regulate mood & energy
✨ Reduce inflammation

But just like any garden, what you feed it matters.

🌸 Ways to support your gut “bloom”:
• Eat a variety of colorful, fiber-rich plants
• Include fermented foods (yogurt, kimchi, sauerkraut)
• Stay hydrated
• Manage stress (your gut feels it too)
• Limit ultra-processed foods that crowd out the good guys

Think of it as planting seeds for a healthier internal ecosystem—one that grows stronger with care and consistency.

One of the easiest changes you can make today would be to stop using all seed-oils and processed oils for cooking. Swap it out for clarified butter or ghee. Try it for a month and see how your body feels.

Another tip from Dr. J for your gut bloom and balance would be that your body thrives on a 4:1 ratio of good to bad bacteria. Powerhouse probiotic strains like Lactobacillus Rhamnosus don’t just occupy space—they actively attack the bad bacteria to protect you. If you have suffered a whiplash injury, the trauma traveling down the gut-brain axis causes that perfect 4:1 microbiome ratio to completely flip…check your probiotic and see if this specific strain is listed and that you are getting more than 10-50 billion CFUs!

This week’s movement Monday is our biggest physical blooming expression yet! No matter your squat depth or breath connection, this will help you expand. Check in with your mind and body and breath before starting so you can compare afterwards!

✨ How to do it:
• Exhale: Curl arms around an imaginary ball, stretching your back. Bend knees.
• Inhale: Stand tall, open your chest to the sky, reach wide.
• Repeat a bunch.
• End with a sigh. 😮‍💨
