“Tired and wired” used to happen because you stayed out dancing until 2am. Now it happens because your nervous system never fully powers down.

You’re exhausted… but somehow also overstimulated. Your body is tired. Your brain is loud. You scroll because you’re too tired to do anything else. You wake up at 3am thinking about your life. You’re running on stress hormones and determination.

And after a while, people start calling it lack of motivation. But often it’s actually depletion.

A lot of modern inflammation patterns are connected to chronic nervous system activation. The body was never designed to be “on” all the time. And honestly? Vacation alone often doesn’t fix this because the nervous system forgets how to fully rest.

That’s why nervous system regulation matters so much clinically.

A lot of high-functioning people wait until they fully crash before they finally slow down enough to get support. But deep rest is not something you need to earn.

If your body feels stuck in survival mode — anxious, inflamed, exhausted, overstimulated — ✨ this is exactly the kind of pattern acupuncture is designed to help interrupt. It's the fastest way we've seen to tell your nervous system to take it down a notch.

🌿 And herbal medicine. And people are often surprised at how effective Chinese Herbal Medicine is for regulating the nervous system, reducing stress, and supporting restful sleep. It can be a really helpful part of creating an upward spiral of healing and rebalancing because you go home with potent personalized medicine that you take twice a day.

Let’s bring calm back into your regular rotation–not as an impossible fantasy.

If your period feels unpredictable, extreme, or missing altogether — that’s not something to shrug off.

Your cycle is a monthly report card. When it’s off, something upstream is off.

We regularly support people experiencing:
🔴 Heavy bleeding that drains your energy
🔴 Cycles every 14–21 days that never let you recover
🔴 35–60+ day cycles that leave you guessing
🔴 Painful periods that interrupt work
🔴 Missing periods under stress
🔴 Sudden irregularity in your late 30s or 40s

Irregular cycles aren’t random. They’re often tied to: Hormone metabolism, stress overload, inflammation, sleep disruption, nutrient depletion.

And the longer irregularity continues, the harder it becomes to stabilize.

Our goal isn’t “perfect.” It’s rhythmic. A predictable, steady cycle means:
🌸 Better mood stability
🌸 More consistent energy
🌸 Improved sleep
🌸 Stronger fertility
🌸 Less inflammation

If your period has been changing and you’re hoping it “evens out,” that’s your cue to intervene. Regularity isn’t cosmetic. It’s regulatory.

Overwhelmed is not just a mood. It’s a physiological state.

When you’re overloaded, the body shows it:
‼️Constipation
‼️Bloating
‼️Jaw tension
‼️Short sleep
‼️Irritability
‼️Afternoon crashes
‼️Cold hands and feet
‼️Headaches
‼️Missed periods
‼️Sugar cravings

You think: “I just need a break.” But you don’t take one. So the body escalates.

Overwhelm means your nervous system has exceeded capacity.

When stress outpaces recovery:
💥Inflammation rises
💥IDigestion slows
💥IHormones destabilize
💥IPain thresholds drop

You are not weak. You are overloaded. And overloaded systems don’t fix themselves with willpower. They require recalibration. Structure. Support. Regulation.

If everything feels heavier than it should, that’s your sign. You don’t need to power through.
You need support.

What Does a Treatment Plan Actually Look Like?

Not random visits.
Not “let’s see how this goes after one session.”
Not “come when it hurts.”
Not vague wellness.

A treatment plan is structured.

We assess:
Sleep
Digestion
Cycle timing
Pain patterns
Stress load
Energy fluctuations
Inflammatory markers
Recovery speed

Then we create a rhythm. If it's been going on for a while, it often looks something like this:
Twice a week for 3 weeks.
Then once a week for 6 weeks.
While tracking objective changes.
What we're really looking for is symptom relief that starts to last longer and longer. When we see that, we space the treatments further apart and adjust as patterns shift.

You should feel:
Clearer
Steadier
Sleeping deeper
Recovering faster
Less reactive

We collaborate. We refine. We measure progress. This is not passive care. This is strategic medicine.

If you’ve been piecing together solutions without a coordinated plan, that’s exhausting. Let’s build one. Structure creates results.

Nap time granted—IMPORTANT reminder from your local Chinese medicine practitioners: Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is lie down.

Not as a reward.
Not after earning it.
Not once you’re completely depleted.
Just because your body is asking for it.

We live in a culture that treats rest like laziness and exhaustion like achievement.

But healing physiology happens most efficiently in parasympathetic state: Rest and digest AND heal.

This is part of why people often fall asleep during acupuncture treatments. The body finally gets a moment where it doesn’t have to brace.

And while acupuncture can absolutely help support that process…you can practice pieces of this at home too.

A nap.
Quiet.
Less input.
A slower meal.
Ten minutes without your phone.

Yin is not weakness. It’s restoration.

The tricky thing is that most people don’t realize how depleted they are until their body starts forcing rest through symptoms: burnout, insomnia, anxiety, digestive issues, pain, emotional volatility, fatigue that doesn’t improve with sleep.

Rest is not avoiding your life. It’s what helps you have the capacity to fully live it.

And if your body has forgotten how to settle, acupuncture and herbal remedies can help remind it.

A lot of people wait until they are completely fried before they finally ask for support.

You do not have to earn care by getting worse first. If your system has been waving flags lately, this is your sign to listen sooner instead of later.

In case you missed our newsletter...
📆 Increased Evening Availability—And Other Schedule Updates

Our treatment hours got an update in July! We now have appointments until 6:00pm three days a week—Mon, Wed, and Thurs.

We also made a few other adjustments, so take a look.

We feel like we've landed on a schedule that serves both our patients and our team. The only changes we expect moving forward are expanding availability as our practice continues to grow.

I'll be honest that changing the schedule isn't easy. There are always a few regular patients whose usual appointment times are affected, and we do our best to avoid disrupting your self-care routine.

This time around, we made more changes than usual because I wanted to practice Chinese Medicine on our schedule and look at how the whole ecosystem can be supported—aka create a schedule that supports both our patients and our team. Our practice serves the health and wellbeing of the community, and I like for that to include our staff.

Thank you to everyone who was flexible with the changes. We truly appreciate it. And as always, all the details about our availability can be found through our online booking system: https://thrive-acupuncture.janeapp.com

When I know I need to make a change and I'm struggling to see clearly, I often ask myself "What would I recommend to a patient?" If a patient told me their schedule wasn't working for them, I would encourage them to imagine a schedule that was supportive of them and their family, and trust that there is a way. So I try to encourage myself to do the same, and get curious about how we can do that.

If you have a decision on your plate and you're feeling stuck, you can try this on: Ask yourself, "What advice would I give to a good friend in the same situation?" Then get curious if you can offer yourself the same advice.

In case you missed our recent newsletter…How's your summer going? ☀️

I've been back in the swing of my favorite summer activities—mountain biking, gardening, enjoying evening walks, pool parties, dinners out, and ice cream. And some days I'm sore... hello muscles.

It's not just me. Lately I've been hearing patients say, "I guess I'm just getting older."

Meanwhile they're squeezing every bit of joy out of summer: traveling, pickleball, grandkids, yard projects, family BBQs...

In Chinese Medicine, this is expected. Summer is the season of the Fire Element—a time of expansion, growth, joy, creativity, and connection. Just like nature, we tend to blossom in the summer.

The challenge is, we get so busy enjoying life that we forget to take care of the body that's allowing us to enjoy it all.

Then the shoulder starts talking. The knee gets grumpy. The back reminds us we spent all Saturday in the garden.

And we blame our birthday. "I guess I'm just getting older."

Maybe? But most of the time, that's not what I'm seeing.

I'm seeing a body that's doing exactly what it was designed to do—letting you know it needs a little support.

💛 A Summer Self-Care Experiment

Take a look at your calendar. Notice how many fun things you've planned. Then ask yourself:

Where have I planned to take care of the body that's going to enjoy all those things?

Maybe that means having your morning coffee outside, drinking water with electrolytes, stretching while watching TV, getting to bed earlier, or finally scheduling the acupuncture appointment you've been meaning to make.

Your body doesn't need to be perfect. It just needs enough support so you can keep saying yes to the life you love.

Summer is meant to be full of joy, movement, and connection. Sometimes the best way to enjoy more of what you love is to give your body a little support along the way❣️

Jaw Pain Is Pressure With Nowhere To Go

If you wake up clenching…If your dentist has mentioned grinding…If your jaw clicks, locks, or aches by 3pm…That’s not random. That’s pressure.

When stress builds and expression gets swallowed, tension lands there.

Common overlap:
💥 Temple headaches
💥 Neck stiffness
💥 Shoulder tightness
💥 Irritability you don’t fully express
💥 Digestive sluggishness

Jaw pain is often a high-performer pattern. You hold it together. You keep it moving.
You don’t make it anyone else’s problem. So your body makes it yours.

A nightguard protects teeth. It does not regulate stress. It does not calm inflammation. It does not soften the nervous system.

Left untreated, jaw tension can evolve into:
😖 Chronic headaches.
😖 Facial nerve irritation.
😖 Neck instability.
😖 Poor sleep.
😖 Worsening hormone volatility.
This isn’t cosmetic tension. It’s a stress signature.

If your jaw feels like it’s carrying something unsaid, let’s evaluate the pattern. Relief starts when pressure has somewhere to go.

For High-Level Professionals Who Value Expertise — If you value expertise in your business, legal, or financial decisions…Your health deserves that same level of discernment.

California Licensed acupuncturists complete 4 years of graduate-level medical training, pass an 8 hour board exam (CA loves to have the hardest licenses), and maintain 50 hours continuing education every 2 years.

We are trained to differentiate subtle patterns, not just treat symptoms at face value.

Two women can both have fatigue. One may need to calm inflammation. The other may need to rebuild depleted reserves. Treating them the same would be sloppy medicine.

You wouldn’t hire a weekend-trained consultant to manage your company. Your physiology deserves more rigor than that.

Serious people deserve serious care.

If you’re looking for structured, thoughtful, individualized care and not trends — schedule your appointment online or reach out with questions:
