Memorial Health was inspired by the enthusiasm, confidence, and leadership displayed by these young women as they embraced every challenge and opportunity to learn at camp Operation REACT.

As part of our commitment to supporting youth leadership and community preparedness, Memorial Health was honored to present the Elevate Award, recognizing a camper who exemplified leadership, compassion, teamwork, resilience, and a commitment to helping others throughout Operation REACT.

Congratulations Lillie!

Thank you again to the Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia and Chatham Emergency Management Agency for creating this unique experience and for allowing us to be part of a program that is helping build a safer, stronger, and more prepared community.

🚨🌪️ What an incredible week at the inaugural Girl Scouts Camp Operation REACT! 🌟

Memorial Health is proud to partner with the Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia and Chatham Emergency Management Agency (CEMA) to help empower the next generation of leaders through hands-on emergency preparedness and response training.

Throughout the week, campers learned life-saving skills including Hands-Only CPR, Stop the Bleed, triage, and mass casualty response.

On the final day, participants put their knowledge to the test during a realistic tornado response exercise, demonstrating teamwork, critical thinking, and resilience under pressure.

Thank you to the Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia and Chatham Emergency Management Agency for creating this unique experience and for allowing us to be part of a program that is helping build a safer, stronger, and more prepared community.

Congratulations to Starla Foster in Food & Nutrition Services – recipient of the Extra Mile Award. This award recognizes our colleagues who have gone above and beyond their job duties to make a patient’s experience an exceptional one.
Starla’s nomination, submitted by a recent patient, reads:

“During my hospital stay, Starla has gone far beyond her basic responsibilities. She takes the time to genuinely connect with her patients, carefully reviewing menu options and learning individual preferences to ensure each meal feels thoughtful and personalized. Her exceptional commitment to patient care and her remarkable attention to detail have made a meaningful difference in my experience as a patient.

Starla noticed early on that I prefer fresh fruit rather than preserved options, and without ever being asked twice, she consistently made sure my meals reflect that preference. She has also made it a point to ensure I receive hot tea with fresh lemons every day, knowing it supports my health and comfort while I’m here. These small but intentional acts demonstrate how deeply she cares about the well-being of the people she serves.

What truly sets Starla apart is that her kindness feels sincere and consistent. She doesn’t rush through interactions. She listens, remembers, and follows through. In a hospital setting, where comfort and compassion matter just as much as clinical care, Starla provides both in abundance. I am incredibly grateful for her dedication and thoughtfulness.”

Starla, thank you for the excellent care and compassion you show to our patients!
