Thank you to everyone for a great event last night at the International Overdose Awareness Day Walk! Let’s continue doing the work to break the stigma of substance use disorder and spread hope. 💜

Patti and Ellis Fitzwalter formed H.E.A.L.: Stop He**in after their son, Michael, died from a he**in overdose at the age of 22. Twelve years later, the couple continues to educate the public and raise awareness.

International Overdose Awareness Day is coming up on August 31st. To honor and remember those lost to overdose, we are teaming up with SOUL, MONet, and the St. Louis County Department of Public Health and H.E.A.L to host a tribute and walk in Kirkwood.

The 1.4-mile walk is open to all, but those who do not want to participate are welcome to watch the event. You can also bring a pair of lightly used shoes to be displayed as a representation of lives lost, as well as photos or signs of your loved one to carry during the walk. Free Narcan, fentanyl test strips, Deterra bags, bracelets, and more resources will be offered.
