💙 Eight Dates at Rancho

Jessica Byrnes, ASW, a therapist at Safe Harbor Counseling Center, is leading Eight Dates by the Gottmans. A couples class at Rancho Community Church on Sundays @ 9:30 am.

This group is such a fun opportunity for couples to slow down, reconnect, and keep learning about one another, no matter how long they’ve been together.

And these aren’t just classes where you sit and listen. Couples get opportunities to actually date each other along the way! ❤️

For this last class, Jessica planned the cutest little mini date for the couples, giving them a chance to have fun together while putting what they’re learning from the Gottman research into practice.

The best part? It’s not too late to join!

Come spend your Sundays investing in your relationship, having meaningful conversations, and remembering that dating doesn’t have to stop once you’re married.

Register through Rancho Community Church under Groups at Rancho.tv.

And if you’d like more personalized support for your relationship, Jessica also works with couples at Safe Harbor Counseling Center. To schedule a couples session with Jessica, call 951 252 8411, extension 3003.

We’re so proud to have Jessica bringing her heart for couples and relationships into our community. 💙

💙As parents, our job isn’t to remove every worry, uncomfortable feeling, or difficult moment from our child’s life. 💙

Our job is to help them discover, little by little, “I can feel nervous, worried, disappointed, or unsure… and I can handle it.”

That is how resilience grows.

When we immediately scoop our children up and remove every source of discomfort, they may feel better in the moment, but they miss an important opportunity to learn how to cope.

Instead, we can come alongside them. We can name what they’re feeling, validate their experience, help them calm their body, problem solve with them, and remind them that they are capable.

This is how children build emotional intelligence. They learn to recognize their emotions, understand them, regulate them, and move through hard things without needing every hard thing removed.

We don’t have to eliminate the bumps in the road.

We can help our kids learn, “I can do hard things, and I have people who will support me while I do.” 💙

💙September is Su***de Prevention Month.

But at Safe Harbor Counseling Center, su***de prevention matters every month, every week, and every day.

We know that people can be hurting even when the people around them have no idea. Sometimes the person who is struggling the most has also become very good at saying, “I’m fine.”

If you are struggling, you do not have to wait until things feel unbearable to reach out. You are allowed to ask for help. You are allowed to need support. You are allowed to simply need someone to talk to.

And if you are worried about someone you love, check in. Ask the hard question. Listen without judgment. Stay connected. Let them know they do not have to carry what they are carrying alone.

There is always help. There is always hope.

If you or someone you know needs immediate emotional support, call or text 988 to reach the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

For counseling and ongoing support, contact Safe Harbor Counseling Center at 951 252 8411.

🔥 Are you playing with fire in your marriage?

Most affairs don’t begin with someone deciding, “I’m going to betray my spouse.” They often begin with seemingly small choices. A private conversation. A deleted text. A little flirting. Sharing something you wouldn’t want your spouse to hear. Allowing yourself to enjoy attention from someone just a little too much.

And then, little by little, boundaries move.

I’ve sat with hundreds of couples over the years, and I can tell you that the pain caused by both physical and emotional affairs can be devastating.

Betrayal trauma is real.

It can shake a person’s sense of safety, trust, identity, and even their understanding of what was real in their relationship.

So don’t wait until something becomes an affair to protect your marriage.

If there’s chemistry, create distance.
If you’re hiding it, pay attention.
If you wouldn’t do it with your spouse standing beside you, that’s information.

Strong marriages don’t just happen because two people have good intentions. We protect them with good boundaries. 🤍

Protect what you’ve built. Don’t play with fire.

If your marriage has been impacted by betrayal, or you want help strengthening your connection, Safe Harbor Counseling Center is here to help. 🌊
