Preston "Big Daddy" Leverett, age 86, died Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at his home. Funeral services for Mr. Leverett will be held Friday, June 19, 2026 at 2:00 pm at from the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Troy with Rev. Donnie Marler officiating. Interment will follow in Antioch Cemetery with Dillard Funeral Home directing.

Visitation will be held Thursday, June 18, 2026 from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Dillard Funeral Home of Troy.

Serving as pallbearers will be: Jerry Johnson, Brian Wheeler, Roger Marler, PJ Kyser, Christian Trotter and Eddie Cox.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Jean Leverett; daughter, Teresa Leverett Carnley (Chris); sons: David Preston Leverett (Melissa) and Asa Pierce Leverett (Lacinda); grandchildren: Ashley Carnley (P.J.), Austin Carnley (Kassidy), Allison Wheeler (Brian), Destiny Rhodes and Jacob Leverett; great grandchildren: Addy, Preston, Jameson, Lincholn, Oakley, Wrenley, Madika and Caysen; brother in law, Raymond Trotter (Bonnie); nephew, Clifton Trotter (Stephanie); sister Dixie Nell Paul; nephews: Dwight Paul (Charlotte) and Dennis Paul; as well as numerous great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Derlie Mae Pyron Leverett.

Carol Ann Hogan
March 26, 1961 - June 15, 2026

Carol Hogan, born on March 26, 1961, was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and a dear friend to many. She was the beloved wife of Terry Wayne Hogan, with whom she shared a life built on love, dedication, and family.

Carol was a proud and loving mother to her two daughters, Shanna Grantham and Stacy Plachte, and a devoted grandmother to her three grandchildren, Kayleigh Grantham, Liam Grantham, and Robert Plachte, who brought her immense joy and pride.

She dedicated more than 20 years of service to the Alabama Department of Transportation, where she was known for her strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment. Carol took pride in her career and the relationships she built throughout her years of service.

Outside of work, Carol found happiness in antique shopping, always enjoying the stories and history behind each treasured find. Most of all, she cherished time spent with her family and loved ones, creating memories that will be forever held close by those who knew her.

Carol will be remembered for her kindness, quiet strength, and unwavering love for her family. Her presence will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives she touched.

Funeral services for Ms. Hogan will be held Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at 11am in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Brundidge with Rev. Averyt Walker officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 10-11am at the funeral home.

Ms. Hogan was preceded in death by her husband, Terry Wayne Hogan, and brother, Steve Freeman (Tammy).

She is survived by her daughters: Shanna Grantham and Stacy Plachte (Shawn); grandchildren, Kayleigh Grantham, Liam Grantham, and Robert Plachte; nephews: Randy Freeman and Luke Freeman; Sisters-in-law; Jean Huggins (Billy) and Wilma Price (Raymond); brother-in-law, Scott Hogan (Linda).

Kathleen Faircloth Jackson
August 26, 1942 - June 6, 2026

Kathleen Faircloth Jackson, age 83, a resident of Brundidge, AL, died Saturday, June 6, 2026 at Troy Regional Medical Center. Funeral services for Ms. Jackson will be held Sunday, June 14, 2026 at 2:00 pm from the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Brundidge with Rev. Shirlie Ellis officiating. Interment will follow in Shady Grove Cemetery with Dillard Funeral Home of Brundidge directing.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 1:00 - 2:00 pm.

Kathleen graduated from Pike County High School and went on to earn her master’s degree from Troy State University, an accomplishment of which she was quietly proud. Her career began right out of high school as a bookkeeper at Haisten’s Hardware in Brundidge and led her through positions at Fort Rucker and Fort Benning before retiring after 30 years from Maxwell Air Force Base in 2002.

While her professional accomplishments were impressive, those who knew her best remember much more than her career. She was a crossword puzzle grand master who could finish puzzles that left everyone else stumped, a Wheel of Fortune wizard who almost always knew the answer before the contestants did, and a devoted cat lover whose nickname, fittingly, was “Kat.” She was a passionate Alabama football fan whose cry of “ROLL TIDE!” could often be heard on game days.

Kathleen approached life with independence, wit, and a healthy appreciation for simple pleasures. She enjoyed a good cigarette, a cold drink shared among friends, and never turned down the excitement of a "game of chance". Whether trying her luck, solving a puzzle, or cheering on the Crimson Tide, she embraced life fully and on her own terms.

Kathleen was also known for her wonderful sense of humor. Family members liked to joke that her last attempt at making biscuits was in 1969, a task she wisely decided to leave to others thereafter. She was perhaps Merle Haggard’s greatest fan and could tell you the words to just about every song he ever recorded.

A gifted writer, she expressed herself through poetry and had a way with words that reflected both her intelligence and her heart. Whether spoiling her beloved cats, enjoying Merle Haggard’s music, working a crossword puzzle, or spending time with family and friends, she left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her. She will be remembered for her sharp mind, her spirited nature, her loyalty to those she loved, and her ability to find joy in life’s everyday moments.

Kathleen is survived by her son, Jason “Kevin” Jackson (Wanda); grandchildren: Jason Alan Jackson and Alex Tyler Jackson; nieces: Blair Bush (Kyle), Beth Ami Young (Scott) and Julie Andrea “Andi” Stewart (Mark); nephews: Col. John Kenneth “Ken” Faircloth Jr. (Beverly) and Joseph “Jody” A. Faircloth (Kathryn); and sisters in law: Barbara Waller Faircloth and Betty Youngblood Faircloth; as well as several great nieces, nephews and other family members.

She was preceded in death by her son, Jerry “Keith” Jackson; parents: Pink and Beanie Maulden Faircloth; and brothers: Col. Joseph S. Faircloth and John Kenneth Faircloth.

Shelia Marie Norris Bradbury
April 13, 1947 – June 8, 2026

Shelia Marie Norris Bradbury, age 79, passed away peacefully early Monday morning, June 8, 2026, in Troy, Alabama. She was born April 13, 1947, in Goshen, Alabama.

Shelia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert “Bob” Bradbury. The two met while stationed in Europe and later married in Belgium. After completing their military service, they returned home to Goshen, where Bob joined the Sheriff’s Department.

Shelia became an active and devoted member of Goshen Baptist Church, where she especially loved working with the children. A work accident left her bedridden for many years, yet her grit, faith, and determination never allowed room for complaint. After Bob’s passing, Shelia became even more resolved to regain her independence. She learned to walk again, passed her driving test, and proudly drove herself to church- always bringing small gifts for the children she cherished.

She is survived by her daughter, Judith Jones, and her granddaughters, Piper and Bobbie Jones, all of Troy.

Shelia was blessed with friends and church members who faithfully supported her through the years. None served more devotedly than her friend, neighbor, and family member Bobbie Copeland. The family extends special thanks to her dedicated caregivers: Cindy Starks, Jennifer Washington, and Michelle MeHaffey.

Visitation will be held at Dillard Funeral Home of Troy on Saturday, June 13, 2026 from 4:00 – 5:00 pm. Funeral services will follow, led by Pastor Jake Fowler of Goshen Baptist Church from the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home of Troy. Shelia will be laid to rest next to her husband, Bob, at Little Oak Methodist Cemetery.

Sara Olivia Kelley Owen
January 16, 1955 - May 26, 2026

Sara Olivia Kelley Owen, 71, of Troy, Alabama and a recent resident of Denver, Colorado, died on May 26, 2026 with family by her side after a nearly two year battle with Primary CNS Brain Lymphoma.

Graveside funeral services will be held on June 6th at 3:00pm at Oak Grove Methodist Church in Troy, and the family will receive visitors at this time.

Mrs. Owen was a petroleum engineer who had a longtime career at ExxonMobil Corporation where she ultimately became a Vice President and Officer of the Corporation. She earned her engineering degree, graduating summa cm laude, at Auburn University in 1977. She spent time in her retirement giving back to Auburn University by serving on the Auburn Engineering Council and the Auburn Foundation Board of Directors, and by helping found Auburn’s 100+ Women Strong program for women engineers. In 2018, Mrs. Owen was inducted into the state of Alabama Engineering Hall of Fame.

Mrs. Owen is survived by her loving husband of nearly 50 years, David Kenneth Owen, as well as by her two children, Dr. April Olivia Owen and Emily Rose Vorland of Denver, Colorado and Kenneth Douglas Owen and Pamela Dorothy Owen of Seattle, Washington. She also has one beloved grandson, Lewis Kelley Vorland of Denver, Colorado. Mrs. Owen is preceded in death by her parents, Sara Southerland Kelley and Dr. Roscoe Douglas Kelley, Sr. of Troy. Other family members include siblings Roscoe Douglas Kelley, Jr. and Denise Sanford Kelley of Birmingham, Alabama, Dr. Benjamin Southerland Kelley and Cornelia Fryer Kelley of Waco, Texas, and deceased sister Lavonya Kelley Chapman of Sarasota, Florida.

Mrs. Owen requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Oak Grove Methodist Church, 2531 County Rd 1177, Troy, AL 36079. She would like to extend a special thank you to her Comfort Keepers and Berkley Hospice caretakers, along with the Landmark Condominiums management and staff in Colorado.

Wayne Hogan
May 16, 1957 - May 22, 2026

Terry Wayne Hogan, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 22, 2026.

Wayne was a devoted husband to his wife, Carol Hogan, and a loving father to his two daughters, Shanna Grantham and Stacy Plachte. He was a proud grandfather to Kayleigh Grantham, Liam Grantham, and Robert Plachte, all of whom brought immense joy to his life.

Wayne dedicated many years of service to the Alabama Department of Transportation before retiring. After retirement, he enjoyed spending his days tending to and enjoying his farm in Brundidge, Alabama, a place he dearly loved and where he found peace and happiness.

He will be remembered for his kind heart, strong work ethic, devotion to his family, and the quiet strength he carried throughout his life. Wayne valued simple pleasures, family gatherings, and the comfort of home and land.

He is survived by his loving wife, Carol Hogan; his daughters, Shanna Grantham and Stacy Plachte (Shawn); his grandchildren, Kayleigh Grantham, Liam Grantham, and Robert Plachte; and his siblings: Jean Huggins (Billy), Wilma Price (Raymond), and Scott Hogan (Linda); his nephews Jeremy Price (Aelecia), Keaton Price (Jamie), and niece Kendra Hogan.

Wayne was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends.

David Harold McLeod
January 3, 1946 - May 18, 2026

David Harold McLeod age 80 of Montgomery, Alabama passed away after a brief illness Monday May 18, 2026. He was born January 3, 1946 in Troy, Alabama son of the late James Harold McLeod and Bernice Brunise Grissett McLeod.

A graduate of Henderson High School class of 1964. He served four years in the United States Air Force with a tour -of- duty in Vietnam.

David never met a stranger. He was outgoing, clever, quick witted and the life of the party. His love of people led him into a career in life insurance for 35 years. He loved his clients and his team of 40 insurance agents. At retirement, he was the district manager for American General Companies in Montgomery, Alabama.

Not wanting to sit still, he became a realtor with ERA Weeks & Browning Realty in Montgomery, Alabama for 16 years. He thoroughly enjoyed helping clients find their new home.

David loved being surrounded by his family and friends. His second love was Alabama Football and playing golf. In addition, he loved to tinker and build things. Give him a hammer, nail and wood he was happy.

He is survived by his loving wife, Marianne McCusker of 27 years, son David Harold McLeod II, (Amy Bowden)of Montgomery, Alabama, daughter Stacey Morrison (James) of Montgomery, Alabama. 7 grandchildren, Jillian Register, Chandler McLeod, Carly McLeod, Chloey McLeod, Analise Mokler, Tyler Morrison and Trent Morrison.

A special thank you to Eric Barnes, his caretaker, Jim McCusker, brother-in-law and Ned McHenry, cousin for always being there.

Funeral Services will be held 12:00 p.m., Friday, May 22, 2026, Dillards Funeral Home, 206 US Highway 231, Troy, Alabama. Burial will follow at the Carter Cemetery, Troy, Alabama.

Visitation will be 11:00 am until the service hour.

Lucious Curry McLaney Jr.
July 2, 1942 - May 13, 2026

Lucious Currie McLaney Jr. was born on July 2, 1942, in Louisville, Alabama, to the late Lucious Curry McLaney and Mattie Lou Mims McLaney. One of thirteen children, he was raised in the Beat 8 Community, where he grew up surrounded by family, faith, and the values that shaped his life. From an early age, Currie was known for being hard-headed, a trait that stayed with him throughout his life and was often matched by his determination, strength, and unwavering spirit.

Currie dedicated many years of his life to working in commercial HVAC, where his strong work ethic and dependable nature served him well. In 1977, he married Mary Helen Carter and proudly stepped into the role of husband and stepfather to her three daughters: Jackie, Stacy, and Judy, whom he loved as his own.

Currie enjoyed the simple things in life that brought him the most happiness. He loved fishing, gardening, watching westerns, and putting around the yard on his golf cart. He was a devoted Alabama football fan and especially enjoyed popcorn and boiled peanuts.

Currie will be remembered for his stubborn spirit, hardworking hands, love for family, and the unique personality that made him unforgettable. Though head-strong at times, those who knew him best understood that his strong will was simply part of what made him who he was. His life and memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who loved him.

Currie was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Helen McLaney; daughter, Jackie Parker; four brothers, Woodrow McLaney, Doug McLaney, Jim McLaney, and Jack McLaney; and three sisters, Sarah McLendon, Grace Green, and Jennie Pittman.

Currie leaves to cherish his memory his daughters, Stacy Roberts (Phillip) and Judy Fletcher (Ken); brothers, Pete McLaney (Annette) and Johnny McLaney (Gwen); sisters, Janice Davis (Jimmy) and Ann Tennille (Carl); grandchildren, Brandy Stephens, Whitney Adkinson (Ross), Kenna Walters (DoWayne), Kelsey Roberts, Joe Equi, Nick Equi, and Lauren Sanders (Daniel); and great-grandchildren, Adalynne Adkinson, Carter Adkinson, Owen Adkinson, and Kingston Roberts; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. McLaney will be held Friday, May 15, 2026 at 2pm in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Brundidge with Bro. Wayne Pittman officiating. Burial will follow in Haw Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held 30 minutes prior to the service from 1:30-2pm
