Many people who come to us with nervous system dysfunction have been told that "everything looks normal."

They've had the scans. They've had the blood work. They've been to specialist after specialist. Yet they still don't feel like themselves.

Here are some simple tips for summer wellness. Even if you have heard some of these, keep reading; they are great reminders!

In Oklahoma, it is SO hot that it can be easy to just stay inside. Getting out in the morning is a great way to get some fresh air & ground before it gets too hot.

Staying hydrated is a no-brainer, but very easy to forget. Finding a high-quality mineral supplement is a great way to ensure the body gets all the minerals it needs. Minerals are more easily depleted in this hot weather.

Summer usually ends up jam-packed with fun activities. It is important to make time for rest, too! The body thrives when there is meaningful activity and rest (both are important!).

Many people who are stuck in chronic fight or flight are dealing with sleep struggles, feeling constantly on edge, digestive issues, fatigue, anxiety, chronic pain, and so much more.

When the body is stuck in survival mode, it is not focused on healing, repair, and restoration.

It can be so easy to doubt your body, especially when you are dealing with symptoms.

Is it that your body is malfunctioning? Or is it that the nervous system is responding to stress?

In our office, we want to listen to what the body is trying to say, not just quiet the symptoms so they can be ignored.

Why does POTS feel so unpredictable?

These symptoms can be confusing and so frustrating! POTS may start out small but slowly starts to take over your life.

The truth is that these symptoms aren't random. The nervous system is adapting the best way it knows how, based on how safe or stressed it feels. When the nervous system is overwhelmed, that's when these confusing symptoms can start.

Most people come in for neck pain or a sore back. And then a few weeks later, they mention, almost as an afterthought, that they've been sleeping better. Or that their jaw isn't as tight. Or that their kid has been so much easier to settle at night.
That's one of our favorite parts of this work! 👏🏼

Because chiropractic care focuses on how well the brain and body communicate, the changes people notice aren't always where they expect them to show up.
✨Some of the things people mention that catch them off guard:

You're home. Bags are unpacked. You're back in your own bed. And somehow your body still feels like it never quite made it back with you.😅

Post-travel funk is a real thing, and it has everything to do with how much your nervous system was asked to adapt in a short amount of time.

Think about everything travel actually involves - long stretches of sitting in positions your body wasn't designed to hold, sleep that never quite happens the way it does at home, different foods, different time zones, busy airports, and a schedule that shifts by the hour. Even the fun, relaxing kind of trip is a lot of input for your body to process.

Your nervous system thrives on rhythm and predictability. When that gets disrupted, even temporarily, it takes a little time to find its footing again once you're back.

That recalibration can feel like:
stiffness or tightness that wasn't there before you left
sleep that's lighter or more fragmented than usual
digestion that seems a little off
energy that just hasn't quite returned yet

A few things that help speed up that process: getting outside for natural light, moving your body even gently, reestablishing your normal routines as quickly as possible, and staying consistent with hydration.

Chiropractic care helps support that transition by improving communication between the brain and body, so your nervous system can settle back into its normal rhythm without spending the whole first week home just trying to recover. ☀️

Memorial Day is a day to pause and remember the men and women who gave their lives in service to this country - and the families who continue to carry that loss every single day.

It's a reminder of sacrifice, courage, and a level of selflessness that most of us will never fully understand.

To those who have lost someone in service - your grief is seen, your loved one is remembered, and their sacrifice is deeply honored.

To those who have served and continue to serve - we are grateful for you in ways words don't quite cover.
