Today we recognize World Autism Awareness Day 💙
Art therapy offers meaningful, individualized ways for autistic individuals to express themselves beyond words. Through color, texture, movement, and creative exploration, art-making can support communication, emotional regulation, sensory integration, and self-advocacy.
In art therapy, there is no “right” way to create—only opportunities to connect, process, and be seen. For many autistic individuals, this can open pathways to expression that feel safe, empowering, and authentic.
As we celebrate neurodiversity today, let’s continue to advocate for inclusive, accessible creative spaces where all forms of communication are valued.

At the close of Creative Arts Therapy Week, I am heartened to think about all of the kids, teens, and families that I have had the privilege to work with throughout my 26 years of practice.
