Circle Counseling Professional mental health services grounded in faith
1226 S. Broad
and online from your location

Please note we work on a fee-for-service basis which means we do not accept payment through any insurance plans. You can check with your insurance plan (usually the website gives this information) about "out of network providers." Our therapists can provide receipts that you can use to seek reimbursement with your insurance company if your plan allows for out of network providers. Otherwise, we work on a sliding scale and each of our therapists negotiates fees with her/his clients individually. We believe that speaking openly about fees is part of a good therapy process and helps build a trusting relationship.

The passing of Dr. Algernon C. Baker is a deep loss for us. If you are or were his client, contact us for support if you need it.

Our beloved friend and co-worker, Algernon Baker, has passed. Dr. Gwen White offers honor and remembrance.

Dr Baker’s impact reached far beyond the walls of our church. Through his love, wisdom, compassion, and commitment to serving others, he touched countless lives and left a lasting imprint on our community.

We invite you to join us at Salt & Light Church – Southwest Campus for two meaningful gatherings:

A Night of Music & Fellowship | an evening dedicated to reflection, worship, and celebrating the life of Dr. Baker.

Celebration of Life Service | as we come together to honor his journey, legacy, and the many lives he impacted.

We look forward to coming together as a church family to remember an incredible servant of God.

A new blog post at our site: Overwhelm: The feeling and what we can do about it.

The feeling of overwhelm is so common these days we can't miss it. We need to check in with one another because it is everywhere.

Have you experienced one of these poor people? As a therapist, I needed to do some study. I plan to present on sociopathy in the fall.

You decide whether a sociopath is president, Regardless, that 4% of the population has an out-sized influence on us all. What we don't know is hurting us.

“By returning to inner silence, solitude, and stillness in these few minutes a day, your amygdala will be smaller. We know now you will be much less reactive and forgetful. We know you will have a larger insula, more gray matter, and overall much smoother connections to your very human pre-frontal cortex. You will have greater awareness and insight and focus and even compassion.” -- Carolyn Oates

It is in the pause, even brief turns, that our brains change and our feelings find meaning and our outlok expands. Jesus leads by example.

Thoughts on mentalizing -- it is fundamental and may be bigger than generally credited.

Mentalizing, if we boil it down, is just thinking about wat we think and feel, and feeling about what we feel and think -- with a clear mind and balanced heart.
