A fitness regimen that does not support health is NOT .
Nearly every measurable value of health can be a placed on a continuum that ranges from sickness to wellness to fitness.
For example, a blood pressure of 140/90 is pathological,
120/80 is normal or healthy
and
90/60 is fit.
A triglyceride reading of 300 is pathological,
150 is normal or healthy and
100 is fit.
Bone density, body fat percentage, cholesterol, muscle mass, flexibility and dozens of other common measures of health can be ordered in this manner.
Sickness, wellness and fitness, then, are measures of the same entity: health.
Fitness is “super-wellness” and provides a great margin of protection against the ravages of time and disease.
