Hospice care brings a whole team together, and our volunteer coordinator makes sure caring volunteers are part of it. The volunteer coordinator gets to know what each patient and family needs, then matches them with volunteers who can read aloud, run errands, build a ramp or simply sit together for a quiet afternoon.

The volunteer coordinator works closely with our nurses, social workers, aides and chaplains, so every visit fits into each patient’s overall care plan and gives family caregivers a little time to rest. The coordinator also welcomes new volunteers and helps them find a role that fits their schedule and strengths.

Some of the most meaningful care happens in small moments, like a warm bath, a fresh shave or help with a meal. Our certified nursing assistants visit to help with bathing, eating, shaving, and mouth and nail care, so your loved one can feel clean, comfortable and like themselves.

They can also help with light housekeeping, which gives caregivers one less thing to carry, and that hour of help can give you time to sit down with your loved one and just visit. Learn more about in-home hospice care at https://thecommunityhospice.com.

A serious illness brings a stack of decisions with it, from insurance questions to future planning to finding help close to home. Our social workers sit down with families to sort through all of it, and they offer counseling for the emotional weight that comes with those choices.

They can connect you with community resources, help you understand financial options and link you to grief counseling when the time comes. Social work support is available for every patient and family in our care. Contact us to learn more.

When you understand your options, it’s easier to make decisions that fit your family. Learn more at thecommunityhospice.com.

đź’• Think Pink! đź’•

Last week, our Community Hospice team had the pleasure of participating in the Pink Out hosted by Memorial Health Meadows Hospital! 🌸

We loved coming together with our healthcare community to raise awareness, show support, and honor those who have been impacted by breast cancer.

A big thank you to Memorial Health Meadows Hospital for hosting such a wonderful event and allowing us to be part of this special day! Together, we stand in support of the fighters, celebrate the survivors, and remember those we’ve lost. 💗

Our registered nurses visit your loved one at home or in our Hospice House to keep pain and symptoms under control. They check vital signs, manage medications and walk you through what to expect as the illness changes, and for many families, understanding what’s happening makes the days ahead feel a little less frightening.

Nurses also serve as the link between you and your loved one’s doctor, and nursing support is available 24 hours a day. Even if something changes in the middle of the night, you can reach us with a simple phone call. https://thecommunityhospice.com

Behind every pink ribbon is a person, a family, and a story. đź’—

This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Community Hospice honors those facing breast cancer, celebrates survivors, and remembers those we’ve lost. We also recognize the families, caregivers, and loved ones who walk beside them.

May this October remind us to check in, offer support, and show compassion—because no one should feel alone. 🎀
