💕Every October, the nation observes National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
1 in 8 women in the United States will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. Every 2 minutes a case of breast cancer is diagnosed making breast cancer the most common cancer diagnosis for women in the United States. With improved public awareness efforts allowing for early detection and evolving multi-modal treatment protocols, survival rates have improved dramatically over the last 40 years. If you were diagnoses with breast cancer in the early 1980s, the 5-year survival rate was around 75%. Today, it is as high as 98% when breast cancer is caught early. Currently, there are 2.9 Million breast cancer survivors; making this the largest group of cancer survivors in the United States.
Out surgeons and staff at SJ Plastic Surgery is committed to providing the highest level of breast reconstruction services to the breast cancer survivors of Hampton Roads.
