Some experiences remind you why you chose medicine.

Our very own .tilt recently volunteered with the Health Wagon’s Move Mountains Medical Mission in Wise, Virginia, providing specialty care to medically underserved communities throughout Appalachia.

Over two days, she evaluated 55 patients and performed 30 skin biopsies and excisions—many for patients who had traveled hours to receive care they otherwise may not have had access to.

Beyond caring for patients, the experience came full circle. Dr. Tilt reunited with one of her earliest medical school mentors, reflected on the lasting impact compassionate physicians can have, and had the opportunity to mentor the next generation of students volunteering alongside her.

“I left feeling incredibly grateful—for the patients who trusted us, the volunteers who gave their time, my family who made the trip possible, and the chance to use my skills where they were needed most.”

One patient summed it up better than we ever could:

“She was one of the kindest, most down-to-earth providers I’ve ever encountered… She’s the kind of provider we need.”

We’re proud to see Dr. Tilt using her expertise to make a difference both here at home and in communities across Virginia. ❤️

Some weekends remind you why you chose medicine.
