Debbie Miller of Blue Pillar Sound combines Reiki and sound in the same session, which most practitioners offer separately. She is a Certified Reiki Master and a practitioner at Healing Arts Center in Virginia Beach.

She plays crystal singing bowls, waterfall drums, and theta chimes. In a one-on-one session, you lie down and receive Reiki while she plays around you. In her group sessions, she leads a guided meditation, plays for the whole room, and offers Reiki throughout.

Debbie describes Reiki as a soothing hug for your body and mind.

Call (757) 251-9301 to book a one-on-one session with Debbie, or visit healingartsvb.com for upcoming group sessions.

When we get close to what is present in us, moment by moment, we experience real life up close, honest, raw, and heartfelt. We touch what is universal in all of us.

Creative expression brings everything into sharp focus and creates an undeniable vulnerability.
Making something doesn't fix what hurts. What it leaves behind is relief, softness, and connection.

We can't change a lot of things, though we can make space for them. Through creativity, we can even make space for the part of ourselves that wants to control, fix, and seek order. Rather than being crushed under the weight of holding it alone, we can hand it over to the page, the canvas, the clay, or the song.

We can find spaciousness without being swept away by our terrorizing thoughts. We can see our doubts from a little distance, close enough to understand them and far enough that they no longer run the show.

When the caged animal inside our ribs is set free, what remains is inner peace.

Mark and Victoria, the founders of Healing Arts Center, bring creative expression into their one-on-one work with clients in Virginia Beach.

Trauma doesn't just live in your memory. It lives in your body.

It shows up as tension that won't release, pain with no clear cause, fatigue, restlessness β€” a sense of being disconnected from your own body. And if talk therapy alone hasn't fully reached it, that isn't a failure on your part. Some of what you're carrying was never stored in words.

Trauma-informed yoga works where it's actually held. Grounding exercises, gentle poses, guided meditation, and breathwork in an environment built around safety and your own autonomy. You set the pace.

Over time, the body starts to register something it may not have felt in a while: that it's safe to be here.

Reclaim your body. Restore your peace.

Do you carry tension in your body that never seems to let go fully?

I'm Janice Landfair, LMT, owner of Essential Wellness. Integrative Bodywork is my approach to going beyond a traditional massage, gently getting to the holding patterns behind your pain and limited movement.

Through a personalized assessment, we work to release the fascial and muscular restrictions that may be holding you back from moving through the world with ease.

What clients often notice:
✦ Relief at the root, not just the surface
✦ More range of motion and lightness in the body ✦ A plan built specifically around what your body needs

I'm Victoria, a certified somatic coach in Virginia Beach and co-founder of Healing Arts Center. I help people in transition who feel disconnected from their bodies and want to make healthier choices.

My approach starts with body awareness, learning to notice how your body actually responds to stress and past experiences. From there, we connect those physical sensations to what you're feeling emotionally, because the two are never really separate. Through breathwork, somatic coaching, and movement, we release what's been trapped and help your nervous system return to regulation. You don't have to manage it all on your own.

Ready to reconnect and start feeling like yourself again? Let's begin. DM me or check the link in bio to book a session.

On May 29, Suzi walked onto the Virginia Beach Boardwalk with her camera and started offering free photo sessions to strangers.

Suzi is at the oceanfront four to seven days a week, talking with visitors from across the world and with locals who have lived here for decades.

Her rule is simple: if your feet are on Virginia Beach ground, you are the People of VB.

Healing Arts Center supports military spouse creatives. Suzi is the founder and visionary of People of Virginia Beach, and we had the opportunity to collaborate with her this week.

Follow thepeopleofvirginiabeach and support her vision. You can also book a session.

Mindfulness creates inner space. Here is what that means in practice.

You do not have to clear your mind or silence your thoughts. The space is not empty. The thought is still there, and so is the feeling it brings. You are just no longer trapped inside either one.

Start by noticing what is present right now: a thought, a sensation in the body, an emotion. Meet it with an open attitude instead of a verdict.

Your attention will drift, and it drifts for everyone who tries this. Each time you catch it and come back to the present, that return is the practice. Ten drifts in a minute means ten reps, not ten failures.

Mindfulness is not about doing it perfectly. It is about approaching yourself with patience and kindness, again and again.

Every practitioner at Healing Arts Center works with this skill in their own way. Book at healingartsvb.com or call (757) 251-9301.

Most wellness plans hand you a formula. Eat this, avoid that, follow it for six weeks and hope it sticks. Tracy builds hers differently.

Every plan moves through four parts of your life: mindset, nourishment, movement, and lifestyle. Food alone can't fix what unmanaged stress, poor sleep, or an unsupported mind gets in the way of, so her plans address all four together instead of just one.

Tracy's office is located inside Healing Arts Center in Virginia Beach. In-person sessions happen there; virtual sessions are available if you're not local.

If it fits your care, Reiki or guided meditation can be added directly into your check-ins.

This isn't about restriction. It's about building a plan that holds up in your actual life, not just for a few weeks, but for good.

Your first step is a wellness consultation built around you and your specific goals.

When I meet a new client, I notice a pattern: many people are deeply empathetic toward others but struggle to offer that same care to themselves. I've felt this too. Healing means more than extending understanding outward; it also means learning to treat our own pain with the same kindness. Letting go of harsh self-judgment is what makes space for lasting change. When we can accept our mistakes and manage difficult feelings instead of avoiding them, we build resilience. As we grow in self-compassion, we become better equipped to support the people around us, including the clients who sit across from me.

When I'm hurting, my first instinct is to resist. I don't want to accept what's happening, or slow down enough to feel it. I see that same instinct in almost every client I work with: one part of us wants to push pain away, another part knows growth only comes from facing it. It takes deliberate effort to notice both and choose which one leads. The work isn't about erasing resistance; it's about understanding it and letting the part of us that knows what to do take the lead.

I've come to see these two forces less as opponents and more as collaborators, each shaping the other over time. The part of us that knows what to do doesn't exist apart from our pain; it comes from the same soil. In any hard moment, we're really holding two things at once: the pull toward old, familiar patterns that keep us stuck, and a quieter wisdom that's been there all along. Neither one disappears. The question is which one we reach for. Pain can just as easily deepen more pain as it can become the source of wisdom and care, and which direction it takes depends on us. Every day asks us to choose again, through how we move, what we say, where we put our energy. Suffering will come regardless. What we build from it is ours to decide.

At Healing Arts Center, our practitioners work across therapy, coaching, and integrative healing, so whatever kind of support helps you meet your own pain with more understanding, there's a path here that fits.
