How do I know if a symptom is an emergency or can I wait for a regular vet visit?

Your pet is acting weird, and now you’re wondering… Do I panic or just offer extra treats? 😬 Go to the ER ASAP if your pet:

Can’t breathe or is choking 😱

Collapses, has seizures, or is extremely lethargic 🛌

Is bleeding heavily or can’t keep water/food down 💧

Ingested something toxic, or a foreign body (yes, even chocolate or socks)

Rule of thumb: When in doubt, call your vet. Your pets are pros at being dramatic. But sometimes that drama is serious. 🐶🐱❤️

Why does my pet suddenly act differently toward other animals or people?

Ever notice your usually friendly furball suddenly giving the side-eye to other pets or humans? 😳 Behavior changes can happen for a bunch of reasons:

Health issues: Pain, vision/hearing changes, or discomfort can make your pet more cautious. 🩺

Stress or anxiety: New routines, loud noises, or even new smells can trigger “grumpy mode.” 😬

Life stage changes: Senior pets sometimes mellow… or suddenly become drama queens. 👑

Why is my cat meowing so much all of a sudden?

Cats meow for a reason. Even when it sounds like they’re auditioning for Broadway. 🎭

Here’s what could be going on:
🩺 Health check alert, sudden meowing can signal pain, urinary issues, or other medical concerns.
🍽️ Hunger or thirst, “Hey human, I said treats, not thoughts!”
💤 Boredom or attention-seeking, your cat is basically saying, I’m fabulous. Notice me.
🧓 Age-related changes, older cats can get confused or restless at night.

🦷 Snoop is officially OUT OF OFFICE today! 😴🐾
After his dental procedure, the anesthesia is still working its magic, and this sweet guy is feeling every bit of it. Between the elevated headrest, cozy blankets, sleepy eyes, and that adorable little tongue hanging out, Snoop has fully embraced post-dental potato mode. 🥔💕
He's basically saying:
"I have no idea what's going on... but I'm comfy, so let's keep it that way."
Rest easy, sweet Snoop. You've earned the world's best nap!

Does your pet struggle to breathe?

Flat-faced breeds like Bulldogs, French Bulldogs, Pugs, Boston Terriers, and Shih Tzus are adorable, but their unique facial structure can sometimes make breathing difficult.
One common issue is stenotic nares, or narrowed nostrils, which can restrict airflow and make everyday activities more challenging.
At our hospital, we offer stenotic nares repair surgery, a procedure designed to open the nostrils and help brachycephalic pets breathe more comfortably. Improved airflow can mean easier breathing, better exercise tolerance, and an enhanced quality of life.
