Can’t believe we kicked off the TENTH year of today! Our vocational program has seen 50+ graduates matriculate through with 51% finding employment within one year of graduating. We had a stellar time with guest speaker Debra Alfarone and our 2026 cohort this morning - embracing our similarities and differences and learning about each other! So excited to see what this year brings!

Thank you Debra and all of our wonderful mentors for making our first session one to remember!

As summer winds down, we wanted to share another fond memory and testimonial from July’s epic clinic 💧

“What they do at this clinic is always above and beyond. it is our third year at water sports with so kids soar. this year they let Zahra go even a third time so she would not feel bad that her friends went twice. (Her 2nd time she jumped out… [the volunteers] are SO patient, accommodating and genuinely care. It really makes my child’s day and she had come to recognize and be so fond of the waterskiing team, the boat driver, etc. From the scheduling to the volunteer aide, the experience could not be better! We are so eternally grateful and schedule our summer plans around this date!”

sokidssoar graduate ! ⭐️ 2025 Carvel!
Carvel’s shirt has been selling out at the King Street boutique where Carvel attends Day program and continues to make wearable art (The Best Gift Shop in Alexandria, VA). Additonally, Carvel represented area 26 Oakmont Rec Center Special Olympics swim team in the summer games at Richmond University this summer, where he won first place in his 200 m freestyle (with a PR of 5 mins)!
