When a loved one has been diagnosed with dementia, the future can suddenly seem uncertain. One of the most important steps families can take is to start planning early, before decisions become urgent and options may be more limited.

Our "What Is Memory Care? A Complete Guide for Families Facing Dementia" has been designed to help families understand what memory care is and how to evaluate care providers:

A dementia diagnosis can change the way a family thinks about the future. Decisions concerning safety, care, and long-term support that once seemed far away can suddenly feel much more urgent. So it is understandable to feel overwhelmed. There is a great deal to learn, and no single decision works f...

Our residents gathered to bake pumpkin muffins—a fun, hands-on activity that promotes fine motor skills, sensory engagement, and meaningful connection. To top off a wonderful afternoon, our resident Paul serenaded everyone with his harmonica, creating a warm and joyful atmosphere for all. 🍂

Moments like these remind us of the power of music, shared activities, and community!

🍅 Fresh Harvest & Flourishing Purpose! 🌿

There is nothing quite like the simple joy of harvesting fresh vegetables straight from our garden! Our residents have been hard at work enjoying the fruits (and veggies!) of their labor.

A special shoutout to Pat, who was a tremendous help pushing the garden cart and keeping everything moving! 🛒✨

Through our Pathways of Purpose program, we focus on empowering residents with meaningful roles that foster independence, dignity, and a sense of accomplishment every day. Whether it's tending to the plants, gathering the harvest, or lending a helping hand, every contribution matters and keeps our community thriving.

🎳 Strikes, Spares, and Sweet Memories! 🎳

We took a wonderful group of our residents out for a day at the bowling alley, and it was full of fun, laughter, and great competition!

Outings like this are so much more than just a change of scenery. Staying active, trying hands-on activities, and revisiting favorite pastimes play a huge role in supporting mobility, encouraging socialization, and boosting emotional well-being for memory care residents.

This trip was especially meaningful for our resident, Kathy! As an avid bowler for years, getting back out onto the lanes brought back so many fond memories. Seeing the joy on her face as she stepped up to the lane and knocked down those pins was an absolute highlight for all of us! ❤️

Learning something new isn’t just rewarding; it can help keep the aging brain engaged.

For people living with dementia, the act of learning, even something simple, can still bring confidence, connection, and that wonderful feeling of “I did it!” Research supports the idea that certain approaches to learning, such as cognitive stimulation and errorless learning, can make these experiences more positive.

Here are some tips and insights for family caregivers:

Think back to a time when you learned something new. Maybe you finally mastered a recipe, learned how to use a new piece of technology, picked up a hobby, or discovered that you could do something you once thought was too difficult. There is something deeply satisfying about that moment when everyth...

🐾 Dog Days of Summer Highlights at Liberty Place! 🐶✨

We’ve been having a barking good time celebrating the Dog Days of Summer week here at Liberty Place Memory Care! Our community was full of smiles, tail wags, and fun memories.

Here is a look at what we got up to:

Walking Taco Bar: Our hardworking associates enjoyed a festive walking taco lunch bar to fuel up for the week! 🌮

Paws-itive Impact: Our amazing residents rolled up their sleeves and made delicious homemade dog treats, which we packaged up and donated to help out local rescue dogs! 🦴❤️

Puppy Snuggles: We took a fun outing to a local puppy store where we got to play with sweet pups. We soaked up all the puppy hound dog snuggles too! 🐕‍🦺🥰
