Your journey is not a race. It never was.

Somewhere along the way, “productive” became the only acceptable way to exist and rest got rebranded as laziness. For so many of us the fear of “lazy” has haunted us towards an exhausting chase of “next”.

But here’s a reminder: your priorities aren’t what you say they are. They’re where your time, money, and energy actually go.

So what are you really investing in?

If the answer isn’t you, it’s time to change that.

Slowing down isn’t falling behind. Taking breaks isn’t quitting. Comparing your chapter 3 to someone else’s chapter 20 isn’t relevant — it’s distraction.

Normalize the pause. Normalize the rest. Normalize choosing yourself without guilt.

Because you can’t pour from an empty cup and you were never meant to run on empty in the first place. 🤍

Su***de prevention is not a flyer in the waiting room.
It’s not a phone number taped to the fridge.

It’s paid leave. It’s a partner who notices. It’s a pediatrician who asks how mom is doing. It’s the friend who shows up without being asked.

It’s policy and action. It’s expertise, education, and advocacy. It’s people who refuse to accept that some lives are just harder and leave it there.

It’s loving the people around you out loud, before it’s urgent.

Because your story isn’t finished, and I can’t wait to see how it unfolds.

We see you. We’ve got you. Come on in.

September Arrives Gently

August left with hands still full—
things unfinished, words unsaid,
the heavy gold of summer light
that lingered far too long ahead.

I let it go. I had to.
Grief doesn’t need a reason to arrive
with the changing of a season,
just permission to survive.

Now September asks for softer things:
a slower breath, a shorter day,
the courage to sit still awhile
and let the summer drift away.

So here’s your gentle reminder, friend—
tend to yourself as leaves will turn.
Rest is not a thing you’ve earned,
it’s simply something you deserve.

Comparison and “what’s next”’ing is the thief of honey. 🍯

Your kids. Your mothering. Your marriage. Your home — stop measuring them against a highlight reel.

If you’re convinced you’re failing in every way, put the phone down and silence the highlight reels.

Gratitude ≠ toxic positivity. It’s finding the silver linings in every nook and cranny.

Taste the honey.

👇 What’s one “nook and cranny” you’re grateful for today? Drop it below and save this as your reminder for next time comparison creeps in.

Writing poems now so please enjoy:

Motherhood is 3 a.m. and a fever you can’t break,
it’s the version of yourself you didn’t know you’d forsake,
it’s touched-out and tired and running on fumes,
it’s folding the laundry in the messiest of rooms.

But motherhood is also glitter on the floor in July,
pumpkins on the porch before September says goodbye,
it’s the tree going up whenever your heart says NOW.
joy doesn’t care about the calendar, (somehow).

So decorate. Dance in the kitchen. Light the candle you saved.
Chase the whimsy like it’s sacred because it is and behaves
like medicine, like oxygen, like something they’ll remember:
not the mess, but the mother who found joy in December (in September),
who found joy in July, who found joy on hard days
because what fills YOU up isn’t selfish, it’s the way

your kids learn that joy is allowed. That rest isn’t earned.
That a well-tended heart is a lesson they’ll have learned
just by watching you live it: imperfect, still whole,
still chasing the wonder that makes you feel like *you* again, still you.

‼️Self-care isn’t indulgence, it’s a protective factor for your family. A regulated, resourced parent is one of the greatest gifts you can give your child. If joy feels hard to find right now, you don’t have to find your way back to it alone. Let us help. We got you. Come on in.

Postpartum Support International we’re just looking for a touch of clarity, a dose of accountability, and an insurance that trainings will be updated.

Fellow perinatal specialists, do you find the change is rhetoric confusing? Let me know below ⬇️

As a reminder, “postpartum” psychosis is perinatal psychosis and can happen anytime in the perinatal window. It is a VERY treatable condition when emergency treatment is sought. You’re not alone. We got you. 💗

Central Ohio is Back To School! 🏫 📖 📚🎒

The team at Nurturing Wellness is here for all of it from the first-day photos to the meltdowns before you even get out the door, and everything in between. A few things we’re holding onto this season:

1. Let your child borrow your confidence
You can be nervous and still be steady. Staying grounded in your own confidence — even when it’s shaky underneath — gives your child something to borrow from. They don’t need you to feel certain. They need you to act certain.

2. Predictable, not rigid
Our morning routine: teeth, clothes, breakfast, potty, backpack. Five things that have to happen before we walk out the door — but *how* and in what order is flexible. Kids don’t need rigid timing. They need to know what’s coming next.

3. Joy doesn’t only live in summer
What is your family looking forward to? Ask it for the family as a whole, for each child individually, for your marriage, for you and your partner as individuals. A family isn’t one unit — it’s made up of dyads and individuals, and every one of them deserves something to look forward to.

Sleep. Eat. Routine. Joy. Fun. Connection. You got this, parents!!
