When it comes to your childโ€™s development, early support is the most powerful tool you have. "Wait and see" is outdated advice. If you have a gut feeling that something is off, itโ€™s always okay to ask questions early.

Research, including insights from the Autism Navigator, highlights that early intervention can make a massive difference. If your toddler is showing these signs, it is worth looking into an evaluation:

๐Ÿ”น 12 Months: Not consistently responding to their name.
๐Ÿ”น 14 Months: Not using gestures like pointing, waving, clapping, or shaking their head "no."
๐Ÿ”น 16 Months: Very few words or attempts to communicate.

You donโ€™t need to wait for a referral. Many parents believe they need a green light from their pediatrician to start the Early Intervention (EI) process. You don't! You can contact your countyโ€™s EI program directly to request an evaluation. It is a free service, and getting one never hurts.

How to take action:
1๏ธโƒฃ Search for "[Your County Name] Early Intervention intake" online to submit a request directly.
2๏ธโƒฃ Have questions or concerns? Please feel free to DM us or comment belowโ€”we are here to support you.
3๏ธโƒฃ Need help finding your local link? Visit sbstherapy.com or click the link in our bio for direct access to support!

You are your childโ€™s best advocate. Save this post, and please share it with a friend who might need to see this today. ๐Ÿงก

Today, we pause.

At Step By Step Pediatric Therapy, we are deeply mindful that the freedom our children have to play, learn, and grow is a gift secured by the ultimate sacrifice of others. Today, we honor and remember the brave men and women who gave everything for our country and our communities.

We are so grateful to serve the families of Berks, Lancaster, and Lebanon Counties, and we don't take for granted the opportunity to help the next generation reach their fullest potential.

Note: Our offices are closed today, May 25th, so that our team can spend time with their families and reflect on the meaning of this day. We will see you all tomorrow! ๐Ÿงก

In the world of Early Intervention, bubbles are basically magic. While they look like pure backyard fun, our therapists at Step By Step Pediatric Therapy use them as a powerhouse tool for growth! ๐Ÿซง

Here is how we use bubbles across our specialties:
โ€ข Specialized Instruction: Our SIs focus on prelinguistic skills like attention and imitation. We use bubbles to cue gestures like "clapping," "stomping," or "kicking," building the foundational engagement needed for future communication.

โ€ข Speech Therapy: We target early language by practicing "ready, set, GO!", requesting "more bubbles," and working on the "rounded lip" shapes and breath control required for producing speech sounds.

โ€ข Occupational Therapy (OT): We build fine motor precision through "finger pointing" to pop and improve hand-eye coordination as children reach through space to catch floating targets.

โ€ข Physical Therapy (PT): We challenge gross motor skills by encouraging toddlers to chase, jump, and weight-shift on uneven surfaces (like grass!) to improve their balance and overall stability.

โ€ข Vision, Nutrition, & Behavior: Our specialists use bubbles for everything from visual tracking and sensory exploration to positive reinforcement and behavioral engagement.

Progress happens best when children are laughing. Whether it's a first word or a first jump, we are here to celebrate every "pop" along the way!

Is your little one meeting their milestones? Our multidisciplinary team is ready to support your familyโ€™s journey through every stage of Early Intervention.

Letโ€™s talk about Dads! High-energy, "rough and tumble" play is more than just funโ€”it is a vital tool for development. This type of physical activity provides powerful deep pressure that helps toddlers regulate their sensory systems, learn to manage intense emotions, and build social confidence.

A father figureโ€™s presence and well-being are massive game-changers for a child's growth. At Step By Step, we love working with dads too! We prioritize caregiver coaching to provide practical strategies for navigating big emotions, meeting sensory needs, and strengthening those essential bonds.

Ready to support your child's development through play? Tag a dad and let him know how important he is!
