If you don't address your final arrangements, your loved ones will have to. Leave A Legacy, Not A Burden!

Had this visitor in my backyard while sitting on the porch. Life moves quickly. Sometimes the smallest visitors bring the biggest reminders. Pause for what matters.

We expect our children to outlive us but sometimes that's not the case.

I had the pleasure of spending time with residents at The Lodge at Wake Forest during a recent grief support session.

One of the things I continue to appreciate about these sessions is the opportunity to listen, learn, laugh, remember, and simply create a space where people can talk openly about grief and the many changes that come with life.

Grief doesn’t have an expiration date, and sometimes knowing there is a place where your experiences are understood can make a meaningful difference.

Through HI-LINK, a division of High Society Care, I’m grateful for the opportunity to bring these conversations directly into retirement communities.

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to facilitate our monthly grief support discussion at The Willows at Raleigh. This month’s topic was “Grief in the Body.”

We often think of grief as something we experience emotionally, but loss can affect us physically as well. We discussed how grief may show up through fatigue, changes in sleep or appetite, difficulty concentrating, muscle tension, and even changes in existing health concerns.

One of our most important reminders was that our bodies sometimes carry what our hearts cannot put into words.

We also talked about the importance of listening to our bodies, allowing ourselves to rest, staying connected with others, and practicing simple forms of self-care while grieving.

Grief affects the whole person—and caring for ourselves after loss should, too.

Although you don't have to forgive others, there may be unwanted consequences.

We shouldn't wait until it's an emergency to address estate planning.

"Charlie,
My thanks for all you do, this is so very hard this grief, loss aspect of life.
As we speak of it, the world cracks open, my hope is that we try to let the good in and to let the beauty in even when we feel broken.
Charlie, so many thanks.
May you do something good for you as you help so many!
My gratitude that we met and continue to do good..."
