They share a name. They both involve blood sugar. But that's kind of where the similarities end.

Type 1 is an autoimmune condition — the immune system mistakenly attacks the cells that produce insulin. It most often shows up in childhood or early adulthood, and it requires daily insulin to survive. There's no preventing it, no reversing it. You manage it, every single day.

Type 2 is a different story. The body either stops responding to insulin properly or doesn't make enough of it. It can develop at any age, though it's more common in adults. And unlike Type 1, it can often be prevented or delayed with the right habits — diet, movement, medication, and sometimes insulin too.

Both are real. Both are serious. And millions of people are living with one of them right now.

Whether you're navigating a diagnosis, supporting someone who is, or just trying to understand what someone in your life is going through — our diabetes support communities are here with thousands of people who understand what you're going through.

History made. 🙌

Congratulations to our Alexander Zverev on winning Roland Garros.

Alexander has lived with Type 1 diabetes since the age of 4. Along the way, he was told that competing at the highest level would be difficult, if not impossible. He chose not to accept those limits.

Today, he stands as a Grand Slam champion and a powerful example of what can happen when determination is stronger than doubt.

For everyone living with Type 1 diabetes, this is more than a sporting achievement. It is a reminder that diabetes does not define your future, your dreams or what you are capable of achieving. 💙

An incredible achievement and an inspiration to the Type 1 community worldwide.
