What you allow, is what will continue!
You are teaching people how to treat you, by what you allow!
You have to have a proper sense of self-worth to actually put these words into action, as you have to love and respect yourself enough to know that you will discontinue, reject, refuse, walk away from, or shut down anything that you should no longer allow in your life – including people.
I am a very compassionate person, but I’m always going to keep as real as possible with you. I’m not going to tell you what you want to hear – I’m not going to sit here and s**t on your feelings. We all have off days, and dark periods and we need to identify and appreciate those who are there in the good and bad. Also take note of how they treat you when you can offer them nothing but require their strength. Their absence or ill treatment, irrelevant of your feelings or situation, should always be real and uplifting, otherwise you are the giver and they the taker.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying walking away is easy or that the second someone does you wrong you need to jump ship. However, some of us have repeatedly allowed these types of unhealthy and dysfunctional patterns into our lives.
To those, I ask the question of WHY? Until you figure out the root of why you would continually allow yourself to be treated in such a way, you’re never going to be able to fully break free from those patterns.
You cannot pour from an empty cup and if you allow people to take when they need from you or treat you a certain way that does not sit well with you, pull the breaks and address it. If nothing changes, make a U-turn. There are people out there that is hungry for your friendship, efforts, attention or love!
Respect yourself enough to not allow what you do not want to continue or what makes you feel sad, robbed, unappreciated, unloved or unreciprocated!
