On Thursday, around 1,100 business owners, founders and operators will sit inside Adelaide Town Hall and hear, from people who have already spent the money, what AI is actually returning.
That matters more than most people realise. Nearly every business is now paying for AI in some form, through software, subscriptions or staff time. Very few can say whether it is paying them back. McKinsey's 2026 State of AI survey found only 37% of respondents could point to any impact on profit.
The businesses that work this out first will not announce it. They will quote faster, answer customers sooner and show up when someone asks AI for a recommendation. Their competitors will notice later, usually in the numbers.
This is the one afternoon this year where Adelaide gets Minister Chris Picton, Toby Walsh, Anton van den Hengel, Clayton Cross and Jack Bear on one stage, talking about what has worked and what has not. Melbourne and Sydney did not have a seat left on the day.
If you are still deciding whether to go, you are probably the person who most needs to be there.
