The AIM program has expanded to Mount Barker 📢

More people in the Mount Barker community can now access free, personalised support for mental health, alcohol, and other drug use concerns.

The Alcohol and/or other drug Intervention and Management (AIM) program supports people aged 16 and over to make positive changes to their health and wellbeing.

Through AIM, clients can:

🔹 Work with a clinician to set goals to reduce their alcohol and other drug use.
🔹 Build strategies to manage their mental health.
🔹 Access support from peer practitioners with lived experience of substance use concerns.

The AIM team can also work alongside other health professionals involved in the client’s care to help support long-term, positive change.

Appointments are available now in Mount Barker, with the expanded service running until the end of June 2027.

Self-referrals and referrals from health professionals are welcome. Telehealth appointments may also be available. Clients can discuss suitability for this option with the AIM team.

Sonder has been appointed as the new lead agency for headspace Whyalla.

We want to acknowledge Country & Outback Health Inc, who have provided support for young people in the Whyalla community.

Our focus will be on building on what’s already in place and working closely with the local community, staff and partners to make sure young people continue to have access to the support they need.

If you or someone you know is already accessing support at headspace Whyalla, you can feel confident that care will continue as usual, with the same welcoming approach and no disruption to your support.

headspace Whyalla will continue to deliver the core headspace service model, ensuring young people aged 12 to 25 have access to free and confidential supports across mental health, physical and sexual health, alcohol and other drugs, and work and study. This will continue to evolve over time, guided by local need, community voice, and emerging priorities.

It was wonderful to celebrate headspace Day with the Whyalla community!

We’re proud to be the lead agency for headspace Whyalla and to work alongside Country SA PHN and our local community to support the mental health and wellbeing of young people across Whyalla and surrounding areas.

We believe every young person deserves to feel heard and able to access the help they need - and that starts with a No Wrong Door approach, where young people can connect with support that meets them where they’re at.

Last Friday, some of our wonderful Sonder crew attended the very first Lived Experience Workforce Conference, hosted by the Lived Experience Workforce Program (LEWP).

It was a fantastic day of sharing stories and ideas, and celebrating the peer practitioners (including our own) who use their own lived experience to support others on their mental health journeys.

At Sonder, we believe lived experience has an important place in mental health support. We’re passionate about growing peer roles within our organisation and would love to see even more peer workers welcomed across the sector. Why? Because people with lived experience bring something special. Their understanding and ability to connect with others can make a real difference - and it’s something that can’t simply be learned in a classroom.

We’re excited to see the lived experience workforce growing, and even more excited to be part of a community working towards mental health support that values people and their experiences.

A big thank you to the LEWP team for bringing everyone together for such an important day!

✨ Navigate available practice incentives and support pathways.
✨ Strengthen culturally safe care.
✨ Connect patients with additional services when needed.

Our team recently attended the 50th International Mental Health Nursing Conference (ACMHN2026) at the Adelaide Convention Centre, joining 572 delegates and 26 exhibitors (including international attendees!) from across the mental health sector.

As a proud sponsor of the event, we loved connecting with mental health nurses and other professionals to share more about Sonder’s services, explore pathways into our programs, and discuss opportunities to support recruitment, career development, and workforce retention.

Most importantly, these conversations helped us better understand the gaps and challenges across the private and non-government sectors, and how we can continue working together to strengthen mental health support in our community.
