This National Volunteer Week (18–24 May), we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to our incredible volunteers.
Your kindness, dedication, compassion, and endless support make such a difference every single day. Our hospital and aged care services simply would not be the same without you, and we are so grateful for everything you do for our patients, residents, visitors, and staff.

While we are sad to see some of our wonderful volunteers leaving us this year, we thank you for the lasting impact you have made and wish you all the very best for the future.

A very special thank you to Cafe Settebello for accommodating our volunteer group each year. Your generosity and support never go unnoticed — you always go above and beyond, and we are truly grateful for this valued partnership.
Shout out also to Black Hill Resin Art for creating the beautiful gifts for our volunteers. Your thoughtful creations helped make our volunteers feel extra appreciated.

Today, on International Nurses Day, we recognise and celebrate the extraordinary nurses who have chosen a career that cares.

This year’s theme — “Our Nurses. Our Future. Empowered Nurses Save Lives” — is a powerful reminder of the vital role nurses play across every stage of the care continuum.

From our hospital teams delivering critical and compassionate clinical care, to our aged care nurses supporting dignity, comfort and connection for older Australians, our nurses are at the heart of better health outcomes and stronger communities.

Their expertise, resilience and dedication make an immeasurable difference to the lives of patients, residents and families every day.

Today marks World Hand Hygiene Day 👋🏻👋🏻 as the global reminder that by the appropriate use of hand hygiene we save lives.

This years theme is "Action saves lives - Safer care starts with clean hands". Peta, our Infection Control Manager has been taking the charge for awareness, training and auditing our staff and our practices.

But today, she has taken time out to build awareness and have some fun at the same tine. Thank you to our amazing partners, Whiteley for always being there to support our awareness campaigns.

Last week, we proudly came together to honour ANZAC Day, a time of reflection, remembrance, and gratitude for the courage and sacrifice of those who have served our country.

On the eve of ANZAC Day, our residents enjoyed a wonderful afternoon baking traditional ANZAC biscuits. We then shared in a spirited game of Two-Up, bringing a touch of history to life and creating special moments of connection for everyone involved.

Days like this are so meaningful for our residents, many of whom have lived through times that shaped our nation. It is a privilege to listen to their stories, honour their experiences, and ensure the ANZAC spirit continues to live on within our nursing home.

Today we celebrate our Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD). Our CSSD teams are critical for our hospital and responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, sterilizing, and distributing medical devices and surgical instruments. Our valuable teams ensures equipment is safe for reuse across operating theatres and procedure suites.

It is certainly a big day for our team as we also received our new Dragon Low Temperature Steriliser!

We celebrated Allied Health Professionals Day this week. A big shout out to the team! We are fortunate to have both Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists as part of our NECH team as well as some amazing other colleagues who attend our hospital and aged care as contractors. So a shout out to our dietitians, speech pathologists, podiatrists and more! Thank you for choosing a career in allied health and supporting our patients, residents and staff here at NECH!

Our thanks go out to the Molfettese Singing Group for coming to perform in our aged care. What an event that was enjoyed by all! Cannot wait to get the toe-tapping team out to entertain our residents again soon!

Wow, what an amazing day today. Performed at North Eastern Community Aged Care, a new one for us! Was such a beautiful day, and so well received by everyone there..residents, visitors and staff all joined in with us! Even received 2 encores!!
