For Karina and her family, Calvary North Adelaide Hospital has been part of two very special milestones.

After their eldest daughter, Ivy, spent time in our Special Care Nursery, the care and support they received left a lasting impression.

Returning to welcome Sienna into the world, they were once again cared for by our maternity team, including wonderful midwife, Mhairi. 💙

Thank you, Karina, for trusting us to be part of your beautiful family's journey.

Were your little ones born at Calvary? We’d love to see your baby photos and hear your stories! DM us to share.

Welcome to the world July Calvary babies!

Little Milo arrived late last month, and during their stay, a midwife and lactation consultant visited to check how things were going. Even though this is beautiful baby number four for mum Lisa, each child has a unique latch, feeding speed and personality, so it's important to settle into a new routine with expert support.

In addition to bedside assistance during your stay, we also offer a postnatal clinic along with ongoing support at the 'Calvary Babies parent group' morning teas.

What did you find helpful when establishing a feeding routine with your new little one - any tips and tricks to share?

A warm welcome to all the Calvary babies who, like little Martha, were born in May.

While the official flowers of last month are the lily of the valley and the hawthorn, the flowers that feature on our new maternity artwork and baby wrap gifts are the brachyscome daisy. A small, sweet, and cheerful little bloom, these SA native flowers greet all our new arrivals and their families wherever they are within the unit.

When Leah and husband Adam welcomed twin boys Roman and Mason early, they knew the journey would begin with extra support. Born at 34 weeks, the twins spent their first month being cared for here, in the Level 5 Special Care Nursery.

From the very beginning, Leah says the team helped her feel informed, supported and reassured every step of the way. While balancing time between hospital visits and caring for their older son at home, the family leaned on the compassion and expertise of the nursery team.

“It’s a big thing to leave your babies at hospital and go home, but I trusted the team completely. Every midwife had such a personal connection with the boys and genuinely cared for them. They never made us feel rushed, and the focus was always on making sure the boys were truly ready to come home.”

Here at Calvary North Adelaide, our Level 5 Special care nursery is equipped to provide expert care for newborns who need extra support, including babies born from 32 weeks. Level 5 care is ideal for babies who are medically stable but need extra monitoring and support to thrive. It provides advanced care above a standard nursery to help babies grow safely and comfortably. Having a Level 5 special care nursery also means that mother and baby are less likely to be separated if baby requires specialised care.

Today, Roman and Mason are thriving. They are happy, active, and keeping their family busy. We wish them all the best!

Celebrating our special team today, on International Day of the Midwife!

This dedicated and hard working group (including all those unable to make the photo) help to care for mums, bubs, and families at a very special time. Their knowledge, support, reassurance and expertise is invaluable, and we know the difference that each one makes in the lives of those they care for.
