“What is Occupational Therapy?
The word occupation is defined as daily activities that you engage in that are meaningful and purposeful to your life.. it is what occupies your time.
Sometimes things happen like an accident, injury or developmental delay that can interfere with your meaningful activities. So, as OT practitioners we are experts on occupations, studying the how and why people engage in these daily activities. We then utilise meaningful activities or occupations to improve your health and get you doing the things that are important to your life.

Some examples of what occupations are for children - this depends on their age and ability. For example, play is our biggest occupation for a child. Things children may need to work on to support this may be self-care, fine motor, gross motor, school readiness, emotional regulation, and social skills to name a few”
