We were so honoured recently to send our Community Partnerships Manager Ellen Dann along to King's College, The University of Queensland, The University of Queensland to accept an incredible 25k cheque from the King's In Pink committee.
These vital funds, which were raised during last year's King's in Pink event, will be used to advance breast cancer research at the PA Hospital Campus.
This year's King's in Pink aims to go a step further and raise $26,000 and you can sign up to join the fun run this October via the link in the comments.
Thank you to every single person who took part in this amazing event last year, we're so lucky and chuffed to be working with you all again this year!

Thanks to PA Research Foundation donors, the Dermatology Department at PA Hospital now has a cutting-edge piece of equipment to help detect potential skin cancers earlier and with far less discomfort for patients.
The VivaScope 1500 uses a near infra-red laser to examine skin lesions at a near-cellular level in real time, meaning clinicians can assess a suspicious spot on the spot, without immediately needing to perform a painful biopsy. Less discomfort, less scarring, and a lot less of the anxious waiting that comes with sending samples off for results.
Dermatology Medical Director Professor Kiarash Khosrotehrani (pictured left) said the VivaScope was acquired thanks to the Foundation's support so the Hospital could improve outcomes for patients while reducing how invasive the diagnostic process has to be.
Nurse Practitioner Christine Shen (pictured middle) said it pairs beautifully with the VECTRA 3D imaging machine already on campus, the prototype of which was also made possible by the Foundation, giving the team a way to monitor the whole body for changes and then zoom in on areas of concern at a microscopic level.

With State of Origin 1 kicking off tomorrow night, we thought we'd throw back to that time we teamed up with Queensland Maroons legend Ben Ikin. What if your oncologist could tell you, before treatment even began, whether it was going to work?

That's the question driving Associate Professor Arutha Kulasinghe and his team at the PA Hospital campus — and thanks to our incredible donors, they're closer than ever to answering it.
Using a 'google maps' approach to cancer, Arutha's lab maps tumours cell by cell to predict which patients will respond to which treatments.
The goal? An end to the heartbreak of toxic therapies that were never going to work, and more time, hope and better outcomes for patients with lung, head and neck, and skin cancers.
In his words: "The translation is not decades away. With continued investment, we are talking about years."

Donna Marshall, pictured with son Andrew and husband Gary, is eternally grateful to the PA and to you our incredible supporters and donors who choose us as your place to give.

Why? because the PA has treated her for both breast cancer and brain metastases that have resulted from the breast cancer diagnosis. With her brain met treatment coming from the Gamma Knife and Dr Michael Hou. Both Dr Hou and the Gamma Knife and the patients it treats have benefitted greatly from your generosity.
