October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month.

At Zoe’s Place, we want to acknowledge the women whose experiences of pregnancy loss and grief are not always seen, spoken about or understood.

For some women, this may be grief following a miscarriage. For others, it may be complicated emotions following a pregnancy termination or a pregnancy that ended differently from what they had hoped.

Grief doesn’t always look the same, and not every woman will experience it in the same way.

Sometimes the hardest part is feeling that there is no space to talk about what you’ve been through.

At Zoe’s Place, we offer free, confidential and non-judgemental counselling, providing a safe space for women to share their experiences at their own pace.

Your story matters. Your feelings matter. You don’t have to walk through this alone.

You don’t always need counselling. Sometimes, you just need someone to listen. 🤍

One conversation.
A safe space.
Someone who hears you without judgement.

A place where you can speak freely, let it out, and simply be yourself.

At Zoe’s Place, you don’t have to have the right words. You just need a space where you feel heard, supported and safe.

Because one conversation can bring a little more peace of mind. 🤎

Finding a way to remember
For some people, acknowledging their baby can be an important part of grieving.

You might choose to:

Write a letter to your baby.
Plant something special.
Keep a memory box.
Light a candle.
Name your baby.
Create a piece of artwork.
Take some quiet time to acknowledge your baby and your loss.

There is no particular way you should remember.

What matters is finding something meaningful for you.

Sometimes Support Looks Different

Support doesn’t always happen in a counselling room.

Zoe’s Place supports pregnant women fleeing domestic violence and facing homelessness. Working alongside other services, we help women find safe accommodation and provide practical assistance such as transport, food, clothing, shoes and essential personal items, as well as emotional support.

This is what support on the ground can look like meeting women where they are and responding to their immediate needs with care and dignity.

We can only continue this work with the generosity of our community.

Your support helps restore safety, dignity and hope.

We walk along side women sometimes at their lowest journey in life.

The team listened without judgement through all my tears and helped me understand and process my grief. Facing your own pain takes enormous courage, but you do not have to do it alone. I encourage anyone struggling after an abortion to reach out and accept support from the beautiful team at Zoe’s Place.

They regularly checked in on me at exactly the right moments, whether through a warm email or a simple hello. Their genuine care reminded me that I was not alone.

I will always be deeply grateful for Zoe’s Place and the compassionate, life-changing work they do. I feel incredibly blessed and thankful to have found them when I needed support most.

Protecting Your Heart
When you’re experiencing infertility or miscarage it can be difficult to attend baby showers, pregnancy announcements or family gatherings while traveling through grief.

It’s okay to protect your heart.

Setting healthy boundaries isn’t selfish.

It’s self-care.

🤍 Remember:

You don’t have to explain your grief to anyone.

You are allowed to say:

“I’m not up to that today.”

That is strength.

It’s Okay to Feel Both Hope and Heartbreak
Infertility is more than a medical journey.

It’s waiting.

Disappointment.

Questions.

Hope.

Heartbreak.

Sometimes all in the same week.

🤍 Today

Instead of asking yourself,

“Why is this happening?”

Try asking,

“What do I need today to care for myself?”

Small acts of kindness towards yourself can help carry you through difficult seasons in the when waiting & dreaming of being pregnant to start a family.

You deserve support too.

Life after miscarriage. Your Baby Matters.
Some losses are visible.
Others are carried quietly in the heart.

If you’ve experienced a miscarriage, you may have heard words like, “You can try again,” or “At least it happened early.” While these comments are often well intentioned, they can leave you feeling unseen in your grief.

At Zoe’s Place, we want you to know this:

🤍 Your baby mattered.

🤍 Your love was real.

🤍 Your grief is valid.

There is no “right” way to grieve, and there is no timeline for healing. Whether your loss was recent or many years ago, your story deserves to be acknowledged with compassion and care.

A Gentle Healing Exercise

If it feels right for you, take some time to write a letter to your baby.

You might like to write about:

The hopes and dreams you had.
The love you carry.
The memories you hold.
The questions in your heart.
The things you wish you could say.
You don’t need the perfect words. Simply writing from your heart can be a gentle step towards healing.

Please remember—you don’t have to carry your grief alone.

At Zoe’s Place, we provide a safe, confidential and compassionate space where you can share your story, process your loss and receive support at your own pace.

Your story matters.
Your grief matters.
Your baby will always matter.

You don’t have to have all the answers today.

Finding out you’re pregnant unexpectedly can bring a whirlwind of emotions.

You might feel scared.
Confused.
Overwhelmed.
Numb.
Hopeful.
Or perhaps all of those emotions at once.

Whatever you’re feeling right now… it’s okay.

Before making any big decisions, try giving yourself permission to pause.

Here are a few gentle steps that may help:

🤍 Take a slow, deep breath. You don’t have to decide everything today.

🤍 Write down your thoughts and feelings. Sometimes seeing them on paper brings clarity.

🤍 Ask yourself:
“What am I feeling beneath the fear?”

🤍 Think about who feels safe to talk to. Choose people who will listen rather than pressure you.

🤍 Be kind to yourself. This is a significant life event, and it’s okay if your emotions feel overwhelming.

Most importantly…

🤍 You don’t have to walk through this alone.

At Zoe’s Place, we provide a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and options at your own pace.

We won’t pressure you.
We won’t tell you what to do.

We will listen.
We will support you.
We will walk alongside you.

Sometimes the bravest step isn’t making a decision—it’s simply reaching out for someone to listen.

Your story matters.
Your feelings matter.
And you deserve support, whatever you’re facing.

If you’re ready to talk, we’re here.
