Repost from the Australian Childhood Foundation

Colours have long been linked with feelings.

This gentle activity invites children (and grown-ups too) to explore the feelings in their hearts, using nothing more than a simple heart shape and the colours that feel right in the moment.

It prompts exploration of how we link feelings with experiences, and how we express those feelings.

How will you apply the colours? Will you use dots, stripes, squiggles, smudges, block colouring, or blending? Will there be spaces without colour in your heart?

To download the activity and find out more visit The Australian Childhood Foundation page.

Executive functioning refers to how the brain manages everyday tasks like planning, focusing, organising, starting tasks and regulating emotions.

For many children with ADHD, the challenge is not in knowing what to do, but in being able to begin, stay on track, shift attention and finish tasks.

You may notice your child:
• Gets distracted easily
• Struggles to start or finish tasks
• Acts before thinking
• Forgets instructions midway
• Finds transitions difficult

It's important to know that these are not behaviour problems. They are skill-based challenges. With support, understanding and the right strategies, children can continue developing these important skills over time.

If you feel your child may benefit from support with executive functioning skills, contact our clinic to arrange an appointment with our team.

On the 17th of May, we recognised IDAHOBIT Day (International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersex Discrimination and Transphobia) and we stand alongside LGBTQIA+ staff, families and communities.

While progress has been made, many LGBTQIA+ individuals continue to experience discrimination, exclusion and barriers to feeling safe and supported in everyday environments including schools, workplaces and healthcare settings.

At Sensational Kids, we believe every child, young person and family deserves to feel respected, welcomed and valued for exactly who they are. We are committed to creating a safe, inclusive and affirming space where everyone belongs.

Happy Dietitians Week! For half a century, APDs have translated nutrition science into practical, personalised advice that support real-world change. They help prevent and manage chronic conditions, guide recovery, and empower individuals, families and communities to make informed choices.

Their work is grounded in evidence, reflected in their impact, and strengthened through their influence across health systems, workplaces and public health initiatives.

Dietitians are trusted partners who help improve patient outcomes through expert nutrition care. If you’re ready to take charge of your health, seeing an APD is a powerful first step. Sensational Kids is very fortunate to have 3 Accredited Practicing Dietitians on our team ready to help your child.

Reach out and speak to one of our team members if you are concerned about your child's nutrition, dietary intake or if they are a fussy eater. Appointments are available at both our Kensington and Cheltenham clinics. Call today to book: Cheltenham: 9578 7560 or Kensington: 8560 4050.

If you are able to attend a rally today re: the NDIS cuts, please do! If you can’t, you can participate from home - see below for how you can take action.

IT'S TODAY!

Our National Day of Action...all over the country, people are heading out to say loud and clear: do not cut the NDIS. Do not break your promises to disabled people.

We fought for the right to live an ordinary life, just like other Australians. We fought for choice and control, reasonable and necessary supports and a real NDIS. And we're not giving it back.

There are rallies today in Sydney/Gadigal, Melbourne/Naarm, Brisbane/Meanjin, Perth/Boorloo, Canberra/Ngunnawal and Ngambri Country, Hobart/nipaluna, Toowoomba/Giabal and Jarowair Country, Alice Springs/Mparntwe, Tom Price/Pilbara, and online.

Bring your signs. Bring your friends. Bring your support workers. Bring your rage, your humour, your facts, your snacks, and your best “absolutely not” face.

Can’t get there in person? You can still help spread the message and make them hear us. Share the livestreams. Boost the posts. Use the hashtags. Comment on media coverage. Help make this impossible to ignore.

Find your rally or online action here:

Today we show them how many of us there are.

Solidarity to everyone marching, shouting, standing up for our rights! And a huge shout out to our organisers around the nation, especially our comrades at Protect Our NDIS Alliance.

Let's go!
