I've been in the training room for another long form NLP Training by the awesome Amy Bell.

It's a privilege to sit back of room and hold space for Amy and her cohort of amazing humans.
To watch them learn and grow throughout the 22 Days is really cool.

Sunday was the last day, and it's always bitter sweet when we get to the end, but hopefully, I'll see them again in Amy's next Master Prac.

This pic is from earlier in the prac. Amy leant me these books that cane from Milton Erickson's home in Phoenix Arizona, as did the Milton finger puppet that she gifted me. A huge honour as she only has a few.

For a long time, you've known me as Best Life Hypnotherapy.

And while hypnotherapy is still a big part of what I do, over the last few years I've realised that the work I do with people is bigger than hypnosis alone.

Sometimes we use hypnosis.

Sometimes we use NLP.

Sometimes we use coaching, mindset work, behavioural change strategies, or simply a conversation that helps someone see things differently.

The tools matter far less than the outcome.

What I care about is helping people create meaningful, lasting change.

Whether that's overcoming anxiety, breaking old habits, rebuilding confidence, healing from past experiences, improving performance, or finally getting unstuck in an area of life that's been frustrating them for years.

So Best Life Hypnotherapy is evolving into Shift with Mishel.

The new name reflects what I've always been passionate about: helping people shift the patterns, beliefs, behaviours, and emotional responses that are holding them back.

What isn't changing?

It's still me.

Still the same down to earth approach.

Still the same focus on practical results.

Still the same belief that people are far more capable than they realise.

And yes, hypnosis is still very much part of the picture.

This isn't about becoming someone new.

It's about finding a name that better reflects who I've already become.

Thank you to everyone who has trusted me to be part of their journey so far. I'm excited to see where this next chapter leads.

P.S. And yes, this is a repost because I went to delete the photo on the last post and I accidentally deleted the whole post.

Most people think hypnosis is losing control.

Honestly, if hypnosis gave people that much power, parenting would be much easier. šŸ˜†

The reality is usually much less dramatic.

You don't become unconscious.

You don't hand over your mind.

You don't get stuck.

You're generally aware the whole time.

You've probably already experienced something similar.

Driving somewhere and realising you don't remember the last few turns.

Getting so absorbed in a movie that you jump when someone talks to you.

Reading a book and completely losing track of time.

Humans drift in and out of focused states all day long.

Hypnosis didn't invent that.

It just learned how to use it intentionally.

Amazing man.

Amazing man.

Meet Abdul Malik, a teacher from Kerala, India — who has been crossing the Kadalundi River by swimming to reach school… since 1994.

Every morning, with his books and clothes sealed in a plastic bag, he floats on a rubber tube and swims 15–30 minutes across the river. Then he changes and walks to class… like it’s just another normal day. šŸ’šŸ“–

Why?

Because the alternative is a 12 km journey with multiple buses taking nearly 3 hours each way.

So he chose the river.

šŸŒ§ļø During monsoons, the current turns fierce.
🌿 Debris floats past.
šŸ Even snakes appear in the water.

But he never stops.

In over 20 years, he has never been late. Not once. ā°

His students call him ā€œTube Masterā€ — and greet him every morning knowing exactly what it takes for him to be there. ā¤ļø

But that’s not all…

He also teaches kids how to swim, organizes river clean-ups, and turns the very river he crosses into a classroom for life lessons. 🌱

By his own estimate, he’s swum nearly 700 km over the years.

And yet, he says:

ā€œI don’t have big dreams… I just want to reach school on time and be a good role model.ā€

No fame. No excuses. No missed days.

Just a man… crossing a river every day…
so his students can cross into a better future. šŸ’™

These are two simple hypnosis exercises I often use at the start of a session.

The Lemon exercise and Magnetic Fingers aren’t about being ā€œgoodā€ at hypnosis. They’re a gentle way to warm up the imagination and show how easily the mind and body respond when attention is focused.

I’m sharing this to demystify hypnosis and show what it actually looks like in a therapeutic setting. Calm, simple, and nothing like stage hypnosis.

Everyone experiences these exercises a little differently, and that’s exactly how it should be because all hypnosis is self hypnosis. I'm the guide, the client does the work.
