Often, children assume the way they see is simply how everyone sees, which means vision problems can sometimes go unnoticed.
Instead of asking “Can you see okay?”, try asking more specific questions about what they experience when reading, looking at the board, using screens or getting through a school day.
Blurry words, tired eyes, losing their place when reading, headaches or frequent squinting can all be reasons to take a closer look.
And remember: even if they answer “no” to every question, regular children’s eye examinations are still important because not every vision issue comes with an obvious symptom.
