At Between Stars OT, our purpose is to empower neurodivergent children and teenagers to embrace who they are through relationship-based occupational therapy interventions.

Back in July, some of our participants attended Walanga Muru- our first camp, designed to support teens in building their life skills, expanding social circles and exploring new activities integrated within nature.

Together, they worked together to run their camp site building their interdependent skills like cooking their meals (and working together to clean up!), organising board game evenings (broadening their friendships and hosting friends), starting, maintaining and putting out the fire (learning to manage risk and manage personal safety) and a variety of adventure skills (to find our own edges and build our motor skills).

We had a great time test our limits and finding comfort within the discomfort. Thank you to The Y for hosting, and Karina from Nuture Nest for supporting our first overnight OT camp. We can't wait to do it again 🍃🍂🌙🌤

Introducing Walanga Muru- Follow Your Path

Walanga Muru is an intensive nature based overnight opportunity that honours each young person’s unique journey—one shaped by their own strengths, challenges, identity, and values. This camp has been designed to empower teens to discover and confidently walk their own path, rather than being forced into a neurotypical mould. Camp is facilitated at a 1:4 ratio and provides intensive opportunity to develop new or increase independence with daily living skills, motor coordination, social engagement, executive function and emotional regulation while prioritising your child's mental health and wellbeing.

Camp will run from July 14th to July 17th for teens between 13-17 years. We are limited to a maximum of 12 participants and applications at the link below close on June 30th.
