“I understand them, but other people struggle to.” 💬

Parents often become very good at understanding their child — even when words aren't completely clear.

But you might start noticing that grandparents, educators, teachers or other children regularly ask your child to repeat themselves.

Speech sounds develop over time, and there can be lots of variation between children. However, if your child is frequently frustrated because they're not being understood, or you're simply wondering whether their speech is developing as expected, you don't have to wait and see.

A Speech Pathologist can look at your child's individual speech and communication skills and provide guidance about whether support may be helpful.

Speech Pathology Week 2026 💙 | 23–29 August

This year’s theme, Communication creates possibility, celebrates the incredible impact communication and swallowing support can have on people’s lives.

Communication creates opportunities to connect, learn, make choices, participate and thrive. 🗣️✨

Across health, education, disability, aged care and community settings, speech pathologists help turn possibility into opportunity — supporting stronger participation, greater inclusion, improved wellbeing and access for all.

This Speech Pathology Week, we celebrate the people, families and communities who remind us every day just how powerful communication can be. 💙

Every child has a voice — sometimes it just looks different. 💛

Communication isn’t just about words. Speech pathologists look at how children communicate through play, gestures, sounds, interaction and more.

Early support can help you understand your child’s strengths and discover strategies to support their communication at home.

Because every little voice matters. 🐝

Big emotions can be tough for children and parents. 💛

When children feel seen and understood, they can feel safer, more connected and ready to learn.

Acknowledging your child’s emotions doesn’t mean accepting every behaviour or removing boundaries. It’s about showing them their feelings matter while helping them learn how to manage them.

5 everyday activities that build hand strength ✋

Did you know everyday play helps build the skills children need for independence?

These simple activities support hand strength, coordination, and confidence.

Strong hands support skills like writing, dressing, and self-care. 💛

Keep it playful. Keep it pressure-free. Every child develops in their own way.

Not every meltdown is a tantrum.

Sometimes your child isn’t trying to challenge you — they’re overwhelmed, overloaded, and their nervous system is asking for support.

In those moments, they don’t need more consequences or correction. They need safety, connection, and someone who understands.

The more we understand, the more we can respond with compassion.

28/07/2026

A “tantrum” isn’t always “bad behaviour.” 💛

Sometimes it’s a child’s way of saying, “I’m overwhelmed and I need help.”

Sensory overload, big emotions, tiredness, noise, or change can all feel like too much for little minds.

Behind every big reaction is a child trying to communicate. Discover your child’s sensory profile and learn to respond with curiosity, connection, and compassion.
