We have expertise in pelvic health with four Masters-level pelvic floor physiotherapists. Our practice principal, Tory, is currently training to be one of only 15 specialist W

omen's, Men's and Pelvic Health Specialist physiotherapists in Australia. We love to help women of all ages feel and move better whether that is through pregnancy, the postnatal period, teenage girls or older ladies with hip pain or bone health issues. Similarly, we specialise in helping men with challenges such as incontinence or sexual difficulties, to improve their confidence and overall function. We don't exclude the men at Vital Core and we love to help the guys manage their low back stiffness or sore shoulder so they can get back to enjoying life. We have years of experience helping runners managing injuries, training programs and specific strengthening plans, exemplified by our flagship exercise class, RunFit. Middle aged runners have a suite of different needs to most runners talked about in online articles, and women have different needs to men. We understand this, and have been participating in education around athleticism for decades. Rebecca is now studying for her Masters in Sports Physiotherapy at LaTrobe University to ensure we are completely up to date. Exercise is at the heart of Vital Core philosophy. We work with each and every patient to find an activity or movement that makes them feel and move better. Active management is the cornerstone of good quality physiotherapy and, while we use manual therapy to ease pain, we promote patient independence through exercise. We have a large, modern and well equipped gym and we run a range of exercise classes every week. We also have a Pilates studio for those people who prefer this style of exercise. So regardless of your issue, at Vital Core, we can help you feel and move better.

If youโ€™ve always trained hard - running, lifting, competing, this question hits differently.

And for a long time, the answer you heard was:

This is where things can go wrong as often athletes either:

Recently, a pregnant 1500m runner came in asking: โ€œC๐˜ข๐˜ฏ ๐˜ ๐˜ฌ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฑ ๐˜ณ๐˜ถ๐˜ฏ๐˜ฏ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜จ?โ€

The answer wasnโ€™t yes or no. It was "๐˜ญ๐˜ฆ๐˜ต'๐˜ด ๐˜ง๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜ฅ ๐˜ข ๐˜ธ๐˜ข๐˜บ ๐˜ง๐˜ฐ๐˜ณ ๐˜บ๐˜ฐ๐˜ถ ๐˜ต๐˜ฐ ๐˜ฌ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฑ ๐˜ต๐˜ณ๐˜ข๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜จ ๐˜ธ๐˜ฆ๐˜ญ๐˜ญโ€

With a few smart changes including managing her load, strength work and pelvic floor, she stayed active with confidence. Not chasing PBs but staying strong, consistent, and connected to her sport and her community!

One of the biggest misconceptions we see with return to running postpartum and return to sport postpartum is relying on time alone.

Your 6-week check confirms healing from a medical perspective but it doesnโ€™t assess:

โœ… Pelvic floor strength
โœ… Abdominal strength
โœ… Impact tolerance
โœ… Whole-body strength

Running and sport are high-impact. Your body needs to be able to manage that load, not just feel โ€œokay.โ€ For some women this will come quickly and easily. For other women/ most women, it will take time and effort.

If youโ€™ve ever started exercise and noticed leaking, heaviness, pain or tightness - thatโ€™s your body telling you itโ€™s not ready yet.

Our physio Danae moved back to Mackay QLD to be near family as her family grew. Hattie is now nearly 3 and is pleased as punch to be a big sister to 5 week old Margot.

The family are all smitten and like all second borns, Margot is tolerating the barrage of love from her big sister.

Mature Movers ๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿ’ช
Age is no limit to lifting!
In our Mature Movers classes, we work hard to encourage everyone to have a go, build confidence, and keep moving toward healthy ageing.

The deadlift is particularly valuable for an ageing population because it helps with:
