Who's heard of OLD TAILEM TOWN??
Well I nearly cried there yesterday. 😭 For 44 years I've driven past wondering what is behind that fence. Never bothered to stop.
Yesterday I did. And maybe just in time.
Pete in 85 years old and him and his wife run this place. Not for money. For love. Its Petes dream and he has worked 13 days each fortnight serving you lot and teaching everyone about our history.
Petes just found out he has cancer. Going into chemo next week. " She'll be right Cosi , doctors will do their best to knock it over " he tells me.
Old Tailem Town has 115 buildings to look through. Street after street of preserved history. Neat and tidy. Think Sovereign Hill without the big budget.
I had organised a group if school kids to film and they loved it. After they left it was 2:30pm. I then realised there was no one there. Not one customer in the entire park. Pete tells me thats often the case. He said when people come they love it so much but he cant afford marketing and doesnt have social media.
So SA please help me spread the word by sharing this post. We need to get people back to OLD TAILEM TOWN so we dont lose it. These things must be supported. Schools please consider this place for school excursions. He does about 40 a year and tells me that keeps the doors open. Could we as a state get that to 60-70??
Old Tailem Town isn't marketed , its not on social media. Pete cant work out how to use a phone. When I brought my lunch he wrote my receipt by hand in a receipt book.
Lets reward this 85 year old South Aussie whos that full of passion its crazy.
Please go there. The weathers unreal this weekend. Go for a drive ❤️❤️❤️
Ill do another post shortly showing you whats there.
