🌟 STAFF SPOTLIGHT – MEET OLLIE! 🌟
This week we’re shining the spotlight on Ollie, one of our highly valued Support Workers here at HCI! 💙

Ollie has built several years of experience in disability support, and during his time with HCI has become a very well-respected member of our team. He’s someone we know we can count on — always keen and willing to jump in when needed, lend a hand and support his teammates.

A true team player, Ollie is always happy to share his knowledge, tips and tricks with the crew, and brings a great mix of empathy, care, humour and confidence to his supports. 🙌🏽

Outside of HCI, Ollie is studying a Bachelor of Environmental Science and Management at the University of Newcastle and is also a member of the NSW State Emergency Service. When he gets some downtime, you’ll find him at the gym, rock climbing, hiking, watching rugby, listening to music or spending time with mates. 🧗‍♂️🏉🥾

Ollie has a very bright future ahead of him, and we’re incredibly lucky to have such a reliable, respected and genuinely valued member of the HCI crew.

Keep doing your thing, Ollie — we appreciate everything you bring to the team! 💙👏🏽

👏🏽⭐️FUN NIGHTS⭐️👏🏽

Ryan and JB spent the evening whipping up some yummy homemade burgers for dinner before settling in for some LEGO building — not a bad way to spend the night! 😋

Fun fact: LEGO isn’t just fun! Building with LEGO can be a great activity, supporting fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, problem-solving, concentration and following step-by-step instructions.
It can also encourage creativity, communication and a sense of achievement as each piece comes together. 🧩💪🏾
And of course, activities like this are always better with good company! 💙

🌟 STAFF SPOTLIGHT – MEET ZAC! 🌟

One of our awesome Support Workers here at HCI! 💙

Before moving into direct disability support, Zac worked as a School Learning Support Officer, supporting students with diverse needs within the school environment. That experience gave Zac a great foundation in patience, communication, adaptability and meeting people where they’re at — skills that have transferred perfectly into his role at HCI.

Zac is kind, reliable and easy-going, and friendly energy to his supports. He genuinely enjoys building connections with the people he works alongside and helping them feel confident, respected and supported.

🌭 BBQ PREP WITH CROFTY! 🛒💙

Crofty was on an important mission — helping shop for a BBQ lunch for some of the HCI crew! 🙌

Crofty got involved in the whole process, from choosing the supplies and helping at the checkout, to heading back and watching the sausage sizzle cook. 🌭🔥 And of course, the best part was sitting down afterwards and enjoying the lunch he’d helped organise!

It was a great opportunity for Crofty to get involved in planning, shopping and preparing for a shared meal while building everyday independence, decision-making and community participation skills.

That smile says it all — shopping done, sausages cooked and lunch enjoyed! 😄💙

🌟 STAFF SPOTLIGHT – MEET ANASTASIA! 🌟

Anastasia is relatively new to the world of disability support work, but caring for and supporting others is certainly nothing new to her.
With a background in pharmacy and her degree in Speech Pathology, Anastasia has always been drawn to roles centred around helping people, improving wellbeing and making a positive difference in the lives of others. 🫶

Since joining HCI, Anastasia has brought such a warm, patient and genuinely caring nature to her role. She takes the time to get to know the people she supports, build meaningful connections and encourage independence while making sure everyone feels comfortable, heard and valued.

Her knowledge, compassion and eagerness to learn make her such a wonderful addition to the HCI team, and we’re very lucky to have her! 🌟

Right now, Anastasia is enjoying some very well-deserved time off travelling around Europe ✈️🌍 before heading home for an incredibly exciting new chapter…

💪🏼 THROWBACK TO SOME TEAM TRAINING! 💪🏼

A little throwback to some of the HCI crew completing their Manual Handling Training — dusting up on their skills, refreshing their knowledge and making sure safe practices stay front of mind.

There’s always something to learn (or re-learn!) in support work, and keeping our skills sharp helps our team provide safe, confident and quality support to the people we work alongside. 💙

Of course, no HCI training session would be complete without a few laughs along the way! 😂

Micky has been enjoying getting out and about, exploring new places and making the most of his community access supports. It’s all about choice, independence, connection and doing the things that make you smile — and that smile says it all! 😄

Community access isn’t just about getting out of the house; it’s about being part of the community, building confidence and enjoying meaningful experiences.

🏏 MICKY’S READY TO TAKE ON JABRAN! 😂

Our Support Worker Jabran is a talented cricketer, and it hasn’t taken long for Micky to take a real interest in hearing all about his cricket and getting involved himself.

What started as a few chats about the game has quickly turned into plenty of laughs, practice swings and, apparently, a challenge…

“This guy is challenging me to a one-on-one match!” 😂🏏

It’s been great watching the bond between these two continue to grow. Jabran and Micky have built such a fun rapport through shared interests, plenty of banter and those everyday moments that make support meaningful. 💙

Judging by these photos, Micky looks pretty confident… Jabran might want to start practising! 😂🔥

🌟 STAFF SPOTLIGHT – MEET ELLA! 🌟

Meet Ella — one of those people who brings good energy! 💙

Ella is currently studying her Bachelor of Nursing and is already gaining valuable hands-on experience working within the hospital environment. She brings that growing clinical knowledge into her role at HCI, and we have no doubt she’s going to make an incredible nurse one day! 🩺✨

Ella is always eager to get into work, give things a go and continue learning. But one of the things we love most about Ella is the energy she brings to her supports.

She’s always laughing, giggling and making our participants smile — she’s an absolute vibe to have around! 😂🙌

With her caring nature, enthusiasm and passion for helping others live happy and independent lives, Ella has a very exciting future ahead of her.

We’re lucky to have you on the HCI team, Ella! 💙🌟
