BROOKS GHOST MAX 4 — TECHNICAL SHOE REVIEW 👟
The Ghost Max 4 continues Brooks’ maximum-cushion neutral platform, designed around protection, stability and smooth forward transition. A good option for both running and walking.
⚖️ WEIGHT
Men: 292 g / 10.3 oz
Women: 260.8 g / 9.2 oz
📐 DROP — 6 mm
🏃 MIDSOLE
The Ghost Max 4 uses a high stack of DNA LOFT v3, Brooks’ nitrogen-infused cushioning, delivering a softer and more protective feel underfoot yet with durability.
Despite the high stack, the shoe feels relatively stable thanks to its broad base and midsole geometry.
The GlideRoll™ Rocker is a standout feature. Combined with the 6 mm drop, it assists progression from heel contact through to toe-off, reducing the amount of work required through the ankle and forefoot.
🦶 STABILITY
This is a great shoe for runners with a neutral foot that require broad stance stability. The upgraded midsole foam feels more stable than its predecessor and more responsive too.
This shoe is also perfect for those with limited range at their 1st MTPJ and or forefoot due to its rocker design .
🧵 FIT & UPPER
The upper provides a roomy, accommodating fit, particularly through the forefoot. Importantly, the internal volume also makes the Ghost Max 4 **very orthotic friendly and comes in a variety of widths. **
🔬 TECHNICAL VERDICT
A very well-balanced maximum-cushion shoe. The combination of DNA LOFT v3, broad platform and GlideRoll rocker provides cushioning without making the shoe feel excessively unstable.
Particularly well suited to** daily running, longer runs, walking and orthotic users or with a neutral foot type **
