🧠 Executive functioning in motion!
In our Time Detectives group, children navigated a collaborative obstacle course to uncover clues and crack a secret code together. πŸ¦–πŸ’Ž

Every swing, climb, and clue challenged children to plan ahead, use working memory, think flexibly, and collaborate with their team, while also developing motor planning, balance, coordination, and body awareness through purposeful movement.🀸🎯

🌟 Collaborative Problem Solving 🌟
This school holidays, our Time Detectives travelled through history to complete a series of exciting missions! πŸ•°οΈ

πŸ“Έ Here, the group is preparing for their next adventure by discussing ideas, predicting what might happen next, and planning their approach before putting their ideas into action with a slime-making science challenge! πŸ§ͺ✨

Along the way, they practised important skills including collaboration, flexible thinking, problem-solving, and following multi-step directions. πŸ’š

πŸ—£οΈπŸ€ Collaborating Across Disciplines 🀝🧠
Our team recently came together with the Speech Pathologists from Speech and Growth Clinic for an in-service focused on strengthening interdisciplinary collaboration πŸ’™

Together, we explored communication development, when to refer to speech pathology, where Occupational Therapy and Speech Pathology overlap, and how we can best support shared goals through collaborative practice.

We also discussed joint sessions, practical case examples, and the opportunities and challenges of working alongside one another to provide holistic support for children and families.

A huge thank you to Cass and Dana for sharing their knowledge and facilitating such valuable discussions. We love learning from one another and continuing to strengthen the way we work together 🀝✨

🀝🌱 Educator Training: Understanding PDA 🌱🀝
We recently had the pleasure of delivering a professional development session to the team at Drummoyne Preschool, exploring Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) through a neuro-affirming lens πŸ’™

Together, we discussed how PDA can present in young children, reflected on the many supportive strategies educators are already using, and explored additional approaches to foster participation, regulation, and connection in the preschool environment 🧠🌈

We love collaborating with educators to build shared understanding and confidence, creating environments where every child feels supported to thrive 🀝✨

If your school or service is interested in training or collaboration, we'd love to connect! πŸŽ“

πŸŽ“πŸŒ± Preschool Parent Education πŸŒ±πŸŽ“
We recently had the pleasure of presenting to families at PLC Sydney Preschools , exploring regulation, resilience, and participation from an Occupational Therapy perspective.

Together, we discussed how regulation influences children's ability to learn, engage, and take on everyday challenges, while sharing practical strategies families can use to support confidence and participation at home 🧠✨

We're grateful for opportunities to collaborate with early learning services and support children beyond the therapy room 🌈

If your school or service is interested in training or collaboration, we'd love to connect! 🀝

🧠✨ Professional Development in Action ✨🧠
Last week, members of the Child Sense team took part in a 4-day training on Sensory Integration in Sydney πŸ“šπŸ™Œ

The training involved hands-on practice with The Evaluation in Ayres Sensory Integration (EASI) assessment, strengthening skills in administering and interpreting this comprehensive assessment to support clinical reasoning and intervention planning.

The EASI provides occupational therapists with an accessible, evidence-informed assessment of sensory integration, helping to guide meaningful and effective intervention for children 🌈

We love investing in ongoing professional development to ensure we're providing the highest quality, evidence-based care for the children and families we support πŸ’™

πŸ§ͺ🌈 Fine Motor Fizz! 🌈πŸ§ͺ
Our Fine Motor Group got hands-on with a colourful science experiment to create an exciting fizzing reaction! ✨

While having fun, children were building a range of OT skills as a team, including:
πŸ”Ή Pincer grasp and hand strength using pipettes
πŸ”Ή Bilateral coordination while mixing ingredients
πŸ”Ή Fine motor control through squeezing, pouring, and manipulating tools
πŸ”Ή Following the steps and sequencing to complete the experiment
πŸ”Ή Curiosity and problem-solving as they predicted and observed what would happen next!

Learning through play, exploration, and a little bit of science magic! πŸŒ‹πŸ’‘
