Time lost is brain lost.

Every year, World Stroke Day (29 October) reminds us of an important message: stroke can happen to anyone, at any age, and recognising the signs quickly can save a life.

That's why the award-winning Eastern Health Stroke team is asking you to remember a simple message for World Stroke Day: Act FAST.

This stands for Face, Arms, Speech, Time. Take a few moments to learn the FAST signs and share them with family, friends, colleagues, and neighbours. You never know when this knowledge could help save someone's life.

Eastern Health research presented at Presidential Symposium during top global cancer conference.

Presented at the Presidential Symposium of the European Society For Medical Oncology Conference, jointly led by the Australian and New Zealand Urogenital and Prostate Cancer Trials Group (ANZUP) and the Sydney Clinical Trials Centre at the University of Sydney report that adding darolutamide (Nubeqa®), an oral androgen receptor inhibitor, to standard of care for this population, decreases the risk of spread of prostate cancer in people affected with very high-risk localised or locally advanced prostate cancer.

Professor Ian Davis, Head of Eastern Health Clinical School, and Chairman of the Australian and New Zealand Urogenital and Prostate Cancer Trials Group said,

"These findings are encouraging and contribute to our understanding of how outcomes for people affected by this disease may be improved."

From tiny patient to big giver: seven years later, giving back to the Special Care Nursery.

Seven years ago, mum Carmen and daughter Kaiya received care and support from the Special Care Nursery at Eastern Health. Recently, they returned to visit and donate clothes for premature babies, like Kaiya.

“The clothes will help all the premature babies at the special care nursery because a lot of the mums aren’t prepared when they have a premature baby.” – Ally, Associate Nurse Unit Manager, Eastern Health Angliss.

Thank you Kaiya and Carmen for the wonderful donation, and to Eastern Health Foundation for helping make this possible.
