I recently spent a week in Bali and it gave me exactly what I didn't realise I needed.

As someone who runs a business, studies, sees clients and tries to juggle all the things, it can be easy to convince myself that productivity equals health.

But health isn't just about nutrition, sleep, supplements and exercise.

It's also about recovery.

It's about creating moments where your nervous system feels safe enough to slow down.

Whether that's a trip overseas, a walk in nature, reading a book, a massage, spending time with friends or simply saying no to something that drains your energy.

The body cannot thrive when it's constantly in survival mode.

This trip reminded me that rest is productive, joy is important, and sometimes stepping away is exactly what allows us to come back stronger.

What's something you do that helps you recharge? 🌿

Jumping on this trend! 😂

Ebony Nash: clinically qualified thyroid whisperer, part-time hormone detective, full-time menace to inflammatory pathways. Survived Hashimoto’s out of pure spite and now spends her days explaining to women why their cortisol is cooked, their ferritin is in the trenches, and why “normal” blood tests are sometimes absolute nonsense.

Runs a naturopathy clinic like a mix between a wellness sanctuary and an FBI investigation unit. Has approximately 47 tabs open at all times including pathology ranges, PubMed articles, solo travel accommodation comparisons, and someone’s gut microbiome results that she’s emotionally invested in.

Can discuss adenomyosis, MTHFR, reactive hypoglycaemia, attachment theory, protein targets, and why sucralose is public enemy number one all before breakfast.

Somehow simultaneously:
• a science nerd
• a gym girl
• having a crisis
• and one minor inconvenience away from planning another international trip after specifically telling herself “no more travel until the Masters is finished”

Frequently spends 72 hours trying to convince ChatGPT that taking the trip is irresponsible, impulsive, financially questionable, and too last minute… only to book the flights anyway and start comparing accommodation options 14 minutes later.

(☝️ I don't even know how this made it in here, lol)

Known side effects of interacting with Ebony include:
• suddenly caring about micronutrient cofactors
• questioning every doctor who ever said “your thyroid is fine”
• buying magnesium glycinate
• being told to reduce stress and rest by the same woman planning international trips during a Masters degree and running a business
• and learning more about bowel motions than you ever intended

Currently fuelled by collagen, coffee, hyperfixation, and the overwhelming need to “just quickly check one more marker.”

Despite the investigative-level deep dives into your health, will still somehow manage to keep your treatment plan surprisingly simple, realistic, and free from the need to take 37 supplements a day.

Turns out I still have batched content that I recorded last year! 😅

PCOS and thyroid dysfunction share common metabolic roots. Addressing the drivers is key! Not just the symptoms. ✨️

A few of the custom flower essence blends created in clinic this week! 🌸

Each blend is uniquely made to support the emotional layers behind what someone is moving through. They are especially supportive for anxiety and overwhelm, to confidence, communication, birth preparation, resilience, nervous system support, and navigating change.

This weeks theme , we saw the use of Five Corners quite often - five corners is an essence for self-worth, confidence, and feeling more comfortable being fully yourself. I often use this essence when someone is struggling with self-doubt, insecurity, body image, or finding it hard to recognise their own value.

One of the things I love most about flower essences is how gentle yet supportive they can be, meeting people exactly where they are emotionally and energetically! ✨

Lately in clinic, one of the most common patterns I am seeing is low energy levels, and quite often in routine blood tests, I am seeing low B12!

Many people are sitting in the “low-normal” range, but still dealing with the common symptoms:

✨fatigue

✨brain fog

✨low tolerance for exercise

✨tingling in hands and feet

Energy is multifaceted, there are many different causes, but this is a big piece of the puzzle which is often missed and quite easy to remedy!

The most common presentation that I am seeing amongst mums in clinic lately, is low energy! Fatigue, low motivation, poor energy levels. One of the first things we think about with low energy is to check your iron stores! But what happens when your iron levels are actually replete?

There are many different factors that can influence energy levels - different nutrients, your hormones, your stress levels, diet, water intake and of course sleep adequacy.

Inflammation suppresses the thyroid axis and increases reverse T3 (inactive hormone).

Lowering inflammation (wherever it may be coming from) leads to better conversion and receptor response.

⚠️ Sorry! This one is a bit "sciencey"!

Thyroid hormones regulate lipid metabolism.

Low T3 = decreased LDL clearance = high cholesterol.
