Could Your Medication Be Contributing to Muscle or Joint Pain?
Muscle aches, joint stiffness and unexplained weakness can affect your everyday life.
While these symptoms can have many causes, certain medications may also contribute.
Three examples include:
Hormone therapy for breast cancer — some medications may cause joint pain and stiffness.
Certain antibiotics — fluoroquinolones can increase the risk of tendon injuries, including Achilles tendon problems.
Statins — cholesterol-lowering medications can sometimes cause muscle pain or weakness.
It’s important to remember that symptoms alone cannot confirm whether medication is the cause.
If you develop new muscle pain or weakness, speak with your doctor or pharmacist. New tendon pain while taking or after taking certain antibiotics also requires prompt medical assessment.
How can Myotherapy help?
When appropriate, Myotherapy may help assess movement restrictions, manage musculoskeletal discomfort and support physical function through individualised treatment and movement strategies.
At MYO LAB BY CHAD, we focus on helping people understand their musculoskeletal concerns and explore suitable approaches to managing pain and movement limitations.
📖 We’ve covered this topic in more detail in our latest blog.
