Exciting news!
I've recently completed an In Depth Brain Gym® course, and it's opened up a whole new perspective on how I can support people to overcome challenges and create positive change in their lives.
As a teacher, I spent many years working alongside young people who struggled with attention, focus, organisation, confidence, emotional regulation, and self-management. While no single approach works for everyone, Brain Gym is one of the tools I've seen help make learning and life feel easier, more manageable, and more enjoyable.
What excites me most is that Brain Gym isn't just for children and teenagers. It can be just as powerful for adults experiencing stress, overwhelm, work pressures, low confidence, decision fatigue, health challenges, relationship difficulties, or simply feeling stuck and wanting a different way forward.
As part of my ongoing professional development, I'm looking for people who would like to experience Brain Gym for themselves. For a limited time, I'm offering 30-minute Brain Gym sessions at 50% off my normal rate.
Imagine having more clarity, focus, confidence, or ease in an area of your life that currently feels challenging.
If there's something you've been struggling with, this could be a great opportunity to explore a different approach and discover what's possible.
Places are limited, so send me a message today to book your discounted session or find out more.
Making difficult easy.

Finding your Power in tough moments
We all go through tough moments. Life isn’t always fair, and there are plenty of expectations, pressures and “shoulds” that pull us away from the person we’re trying to be. Add the everyday challenges at work, school or home, and it’s no surprise we end up frustrated or annoyed sometimes.
And honestly, it’s normal to blame the situation. Our minds jump straight into overthinking — replaying what happened, trying to make sense of it, getting stuck in our head. Before we realise it, the moment holds way more power over our day than it should.
But here’s something I see a lot in my work:
Sometimes the situations that annoy us the most are the ones that have the most to teach us. Not because they’re fair, but because they highlight something inside us that’s worth paying attention to.
• When we pause and check in with ourselves, we can ask:
• What’s actually bothering me
• Why this moment hits so hard
• What part of me feels pushed, unheard or disrespected
• What expectations or pressures are pulling me off centre
This is how we get out of our head and back into our body — into the part of us that knows what matters and what we need.
And while we can’t control other people or the unfair parts of life, we can take back the power these moments have over our experience. That’s where real change starts.

Supporting People Through Life’s Big Transitions

Growing up is full of key transitions — and these moments are more than school milestones. They’re rites of passage that shape how young people understand themselves and their future.
Schools provide structure, but many teens still feel disconnected. When the process feels competitive or rigid, it’s easy for them to doubt their worth or lose sight of who they are.

As parents, our expectations come from love — but sometimes they unintentionally pull young people away from their passions and toward what feels “safe” or “normal”. People make stronger, healthier decisions when they move toward what excites them, not just away from what they dislike.

Let’s encourage their interests, honour their individuality, and support them to make choices that feel true to who they are.
And this support isn’t just for young people — anyone navigating a big transition deserves space to reconnect with their strengths, explore possibilities, and feel valued.

As a father, a teacher, and someone who has sat with people during some of the hardest moments of their lives, this work means a lot to me. I’ve seen how powerful it is when someone reconnects with their self worth and with who they really want to be — when they realise they have strengths, value, and potential they couldn’t see before. Supporting people to access that part of themselves isn’t just “nice to do”; it’s one of the foundations of a happy life. Honestly, I think it’s the most important thing we can help people with.

If you, your teen, your family — or anyone you care about — is facing a transition, I’m offering free sessions to explore strengths, clarify direction, and look at options that genuinely fit who you are.

Understanding the Patterns That Shape Your Life
I worked with someone today who had a powerful realisation — they were still carrying things from their past that they didn’t know were influencing them. As we explored their story, they began to see how old experiences were quietly shaping how they felt, how they reacted, and even how they made decisions now.
It reminded me how common this is for so many of us.
Sometimes the things affecting us most are the ones we don’t realise we’re still holding onto.
Old moments that left a mark. Stories we absorbed about ourselves. Patterns we learned to survive. Experiences our body remembers even when our mind has moved on.
These unprocessed pieces can show up in surprising ways:
• feeling unsure of yourself even when you’re capable
• second guessing decisions or feeling stuck
• tension in your body that appears out of nowhere
• shutting down, overthinking, or becoming overwhelmed
• reacting strongly to things that “shouldn’t” feel big
None of this means something is wrong with you. It means your body and mind are still trying to make sense of experiences that were never fully understood, supported, or healed.
When you start gently noticing what you’ve been carrying, you create space for clarity, confidence, and a deeper connection to who you actually are — not just who you had to be in the past.
If you’re beginning to notice patterns in yourself and want support to explore them, I’m here to walk alongside you.

When I was a teenager, I had no idea what I wanted to do. Everyone else seemed to have a plan — a clear path, a dream job, a sense of direction. I didn’t. And honestly, it made me feel like I was already behind.
Looking back, I realise I wasn’t lost… I just hadn’t reconnected with myself yet.
And I see the exact same thing in young people today.
Most of them don’t know the specifics of what they want to do — and they’re not supposed to. But they do know:
• what they enjoy
• what they’re naturally good at
• what energises them
• the type of person they want to become
The challenge is turning those pieces into a direction that actually fits.
And here’s something important: When young people are struggling — feeling stuck, overwhelmed, unmotivated, or unsure — it’s not a failure. It’s information.
Struggle is often the body and mind saying, “This isn’t working for me.” “This doesn’t fit who I am.” “I need a different direction.”
Those moments are an opportunity to listen. To notice what’s not working. To reconnect with themselves. And to choose a path that aligns with who they are and how they want to show up in the world.
A lot of my work with young people is helping them make sense of that. Not by forcing a plan, but by helping them reconnect with their values, strengths, interests, and identity — so they can move toward something that feels meaningful, even if they don’t know the exact destination yet.
You don’t need the full map to start moving forward. You just need to discover the direction.

I meet a lot of people who sit down in a session, take a breath… and then there’s silence. Not because they’re doing anything wrong — but because they genuinely don’t know where to start.
And that silence? It’s completely normal.

Sometimes silence means you’re overwhelmed. Sometimes it means you’re choosing your words carefully. Sometimes it means you’re protecting yourself. And sometimes it means you simply don’t understand what’s happening inside you yet — the feelings, the reactions, the heaviness, the confusion.
Silence can also be a kind of strength.

For many people, silence has been the only way to push back against things that weren’t fair, weren’t safe, or weren’t in their control. When speaking up didn’t help… When explaining yourself didn’t change anything… When you were expected to “just deal with it”… Silence became a way of holding onto your power.

Silence can be your way of saying:
“I don’t have the words yet.”
“I’m trying to understand myself.”
“I’m choosing when and how my story is shared.”
None of that is weakness. It’s wisdom. It’s self protection. It’s strength.

At Mind Body Health Solutions, we don’t rush people out of silence. We sit with it. We respect it. We work with it.
Because silence is often the doorway into what really matters — the emotions underneath, the body’s responses, the stories that haven’t had a safe place to land, and the confusion that deserves clarity, not pressure.

You don’t need to understand everything before you walk in. You don’t need the perfect words. Your silence is welcome here — it has meaning.

This week I completed the MATES in Construction ASSIST Su***de Intervention Training, and I’m feeling really grateful for the experience. MATES do incredible work across Australia supporting workers, families, and communities — creating safer job sites, building stronger conversations, and making sure no one faces tough moments alone. Their commitment to looking out for one another is something I deeply respect and want to carry forward in my own practice.

Life throws challenges at all of us — pressure at work, struggles at school, family stress, changes, or moments that feel heavier than we expected. Talking about mental health and su***de isn’t always easy, but it’s one of the most important things we can do. When we speak up, check in, and stay connected, we make it possible for people to feel seen, supported, and valued.

If you’re doing it tough right now, or if you’re worried about someone you care about, I’m offering free wellbeing catch‑ups — a relaxed, safe space to talk, breathe, and feel supported.
These aren’t counselling sessions, just a chance to check in, chat, and figure out what might help.

Reaching out is a sign of strength. And sometimes one conversation can make a real difference.

If you need a yarn, or you know someone who might, please reach out. We’re stronger when we look out for each other.

Supporting young people starts with a safe place to talk
The Newcastle Herald recently highlighted something important: many young people only reach out for help when they’re already at breaking point.

But early support changes everything.

When kids and teens have safe, calm, non-judgemental spaces to talk about their worries — school pressure, friendships, family stress, big emotions — things don’t have to build up.

A simple conversation can:
• ease stress
• build confidence
• help them feel understood
• prevent overwhelm before it starts

If you’re a parent, carer or educator, opening the door to talk can make a huge difference. And if a young person needs extra support, counselling can be a safe next step.
