"The migraine lifted. And then something else did too. Something I didn't have a word for."
She'd had migraines since her late twenties. Two or three a month, sometimes more. She'd mapped her triggers β sleep, screens, stress, certain foods. She managed them carefully. She'd learned to read the warning signs and work around them. But she hadn't been able to stop them.
She also hadn't slept through the night in years. Her mind would switch on somewhere around 2am β replaying the day, planning the next one, solving problems that didn't need solving at 2am. She thought this was just how she was. Her brain. Her personality. Her cross to bear.
"I felt like I was living three days ahead of myself. Always prepared. Never present. And exhausted by it β but unable to stop."
Over four sessions working with the Pause Gateway β C1 and C2 β the migraines reduced in frequency first, then intensity. The sleep began to shift in the third week. The 2am spiral became 4am. Then it stopped altogether most nights.
But what she described in her fourth session was something else entirely.
"I drove home and I wasn't thinking about anything. Not the school pickup. Not the presentation. Not what I needed to do when I got in. I was just β driving. And I realised I couldn't remember the last time I'd just been somewhere without half my brain being somewhere else."
Just driving. Just being somewhere. The simplest thing β and the most profound.
This is what the Pause Gateway releases. Not just the headache. The future. The compulsive forward-living. The exhausting habit of being permanently elsewhere.
"She didn't just get her sleep back. She got the present moment back."
